Explore Canoeing

I grew up Backcountry camping and canoeing, my partner did not. For 5+ years we have been Backcountry camping canoeing together, usually multiple fights along the way. This course allowed us to learn together, helped build trust in each other's capabilities and allowed us speak the same language! I can't say enough about Matt and his expertise. He is patient and kind and fun and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed the course and would 100% recommend to anyone of all skill level! We both learned a ton and our confidence together in a canoe has surpassed my expectations.

Working with Matt and the other participants was a wonderful experience. As we are beginners, we found the course challenging, but we were very well supported and encouraged the entire time. We look forward to more canoeing experiences because of this course. Thank you, Matt!

Matt is a good instructor.But. If you have any sort of health issues that could *possibly* flare up don’t take this course. Even if you get better and say you are (because you know your body well) - You won’t be allowed to finish the course. Keep that in mind or you’ll be sad and sorry.

My daughter and I enjoyed taking the paddling classes and we learned so much. It was a fantastic experience and we are looking forward to get out more to practice our new skills.

Matt gave excellent explanations and ensured us all that we will get the help needed to succeed in this incredible and extremely fun course and he took the time to do just that. Thanks for an awesome weekend!!!!!

Matt ran a fantastic course, there was lots of time to practice skills and he was very helpful for finding modifications that effectively worked for me.

I had barely any canoeing experience before taking the Level 1-3 tandem course. My partner had a lot of experience. Both of us learned a lot from this course. Matt is an excellent instructor and I now feel comfortable paddling in either position.

Lots of learning! Having gone a number of canoe camping trips with out formal training, I was surprised by how many new skill Matt was able to teach in a couple of days. My canoeing partner had no experience at the start of the course and now feels confident in her skills to be able to venture out on flat water trips this summer.Matt's love for canoeing and sparking a passion in others was clearly evident though out the cours. He ensured that everyone was comfortable with the new skills being demonstrated and that they not only could perform the task, but that they knew why they were using the stroke.I'm looking forward to booking my next course with Matt.
