CDK Family Medicine and Walk-In Clinic
Over a period of 3 weeks i had to make 6 visits.Mwt with Dr.leke on three of them, which were very pleasant. To those that moan and whine about the time it takes to get in to be seen. Take into consideratuon that they are seeing easily 150+ patients daily and facilitating medical care to their core clinical patients as well. (Actual clients and not just walkins such as myself.)Worst part of my experience was other people waiting getting upset and flustered. The clinic itself was top notch and had A+ service in my experiences.

I visited CDK on Princess Street on Wednesday May 11 with my daughter, as we had symptoms of strep throat. We arrived at 9 when it opened and waited about 2 hours which is understandable given the current strains on our healthcare. We saw the doctor and after explaining there have been confirmed cases of strep in her daycare, we both had symptoms, and that I had strep last year and it felt the same, he proceeded to tell me it looked viral and he’s right about 50% of the time, and also that he does not do the rapid strep tests as they’re only 70% accurate,, which he felt was not much better than his guess. So, he took a swab and told us to call back Friday for our results and sent us on our way. In the mean time I was dealing with body aches, off and on fever, intense throat and ear pain. My daughter had off and on fever but thankfully her symptoms seemed to subside.I have an account through LifeLabs and noticed my results were in for myself on Friday morning and I had tested positive for strep. When I called the office, the receptionist told me the doctor didn’t have the results yet but isn’t back in the office until NEXT Friday, so I could not get a prescription until then. I asked if another doctor could review my results and prescribe an antibiotic and she said not without seeing me and that I would have to come back to the walk in. I asked if I could make an appointment since it was simply to fill a prescription for results I already had, and she refused. She stated the only way for me to get a prescription for my now confirmed strep throat was to once again, wait at the walk in, or wait another week until the doctor I saw was back. Of course as most people have to do, this means taking more time off work and coordinating childcare. I don’t know if it’s because they want to be able to charge for two in person appointments, but seems like an absolute abuse of the system and terribly inefficient. So, I went back to the walk in and waited another 2.5 hours this time to have a physician’s assistant look at my results and print out a prescription. Id be surprised if I was in the room for more than 30 seconds.I understand the strains on our healthcare system, and am sympathetic towards that. Unfortunately my family has been without a family doctor for 2.5 years, and with two young kids we’ve spent a lot of time using virtual appointments (now mostly gone thanks to the reduced funding) and walk-ins/urgent care. But the fact I had to come back to this walk in, wait all over again to see a doctor to prescribe an antibiotic for something already confirmed from a test result from a prior appointment is absolutely outrageous and a waste of everyone’s time and limited resources. I have never had to do this before, the prescription was automatically faxed to the pharmacy on my record, or the doctor would provide me with the prescription to fill should the results be positive. I can’t believe this was their ‘clinic policy’. Unfortunately we will likely have to come back here as there aren’t many other options in the area, but I wanted to write this review to ensure others are aware of what you can expect, and maybe try to advocate more for yourself on a clear follow up plan once any results are received. And maybe, just maybe, someone from this clinic will read this review and realize that their current policies and practices need some improvement to save everyone the headache.

My daughter was seen in the clinic for a sore throat. She was tested for strep but received a false negative result. Came back again and saw a more thorough doctor who wanted bloodwork. My daughter received blood work results for positive strep and went back to clinic for antibiotics. The receptionist told her that they hadn’t received results and she would have to wait until the next week. My daughter had her results in hand. I called and asked how we could get Megan seen and the receptionist was most rude and ended up hanging up on me. I could not believe that this very unhappy lady could be so unkind and deny care. She thought it was just fine that my daughter ended up at urgent care. I think this clinic should not be funded by our medical system as they do not provide comprehensive, compassionate care.

My first time going to this Clinic. Considering the amount of patients I saw coming and going, waiting 80 minutes didn't bother me. The doctor was fast but efficient and even though she was obviously very busy and probably a little overwhelmed, she took the time to answer my questions. Thank you so much Dr Nguyen!

This is really a great clinic. I have been there twice now and found the doctors kind and veru helpful. One even offered me something 6,000,000 Canadians (myself imcluded) typically can get...continuity of care. In a time when a family doctor can be so hard to find, these folks make a fine substitute.

The first time using this clinic as I needed to have TB testing done and forms filled out for a new job. It looked busy when I walked in but I was seen within 60min. The physician assistant Jeffery was super nice and knowledgeable and quick with knowing what testing I needed done for the forms.

Wait time just over an hour. Doctors and staff pleasant and efficient. Although never intended to accommodate the ever increasing number of orphan patients in Kingston, excellent care is available to all. Impressed by the number of young people offering seats to oldsters like me and parents with babies.

I have been using the CDK services since I was a university student and I think it is important for people to know that this clinic has failed me almost as many times as they've helped me. This clinic provides satisfactory service if you're at your wit's end and need someone with the power to write you a prescription. But they are not dependable for any walk-in patients who need specialized or coordinated care. Quite honestly, be prepared to advocate for yourself tirelessly and make sure all ducks are in a row if you use these services because they will not be advocating for you or helping you that much, even if they make a mistake. In 2016, I had a period of chronic yeast infection and went back every time I had a flare. None of the doctors thought to run any tests and make sure that what they thought I had was what I actually had. It turns out I did not have a yeast infection but rather contact dermatitis. I think on my 3rd or 4th visit Dr Z Yen finally provided me with proper care. It only took several visits.Recently, I was in need of a referral to a psychiatric clinic and was attended to by Dr. C Musca CPSO#: 77426. She completed my referral and indicated on the referral that she agreed to implement and monitor psychiatric recommendations. I am aware that normally, walk-in patients are not able to get controlled or narcotic Rx's, but I naïvely thought that maybe because she literally wrote and signed on the form that she'd handle my care, that there would be an exception.Dr. Musca allegedly claimed to her receptionist that there was no reason for me to believe she would take over my care. This feels like gaslighting, because I know what she signed on the paper. So, does this mean physicians are no longer honouring the promises they make to the patients they see, or did Dr Musca simply not read the box she was checking off or understand the weight of the responsibility she signed off on? If the latter, perhaps this is something she should be aware and careful of. As a chronically ignored patient from a vulnerable demographic, I do not appreciate or tolerate the negligence that I experienced today. Why did it take several phonecalls for you guys to believe me that there was some miscommunication?I understand that doctors make mistakes, but I don't appreciate that I had already addressed this specific issue last week when I thought I had resolved the issue. I also do not appreciate that no one ever apologizes for making mistakes and wasting my time. I understand CDK is a busy clinic but it's always someone else's fault and never yours. I am absolutely distraught. I have been diligent in trying to ensure I get as seamless amount of care as I can. I am on the Healthcare connect wait list for an indefinite amount of time and I have exhausted all the possible avenues of care.PS I really love the Physician Assistants here though. They are the only reason I am not giving one star. Perhaps you should hire more PA's to manage the patient load you will always have.

Rude reception. Hung up on me when I was trying to understand how to book a follow up appointment. Should pull a homeless person from the street and replace her. I’m sure they’d be happy to have the position.
