Taraneh was my teacher in AF and one of the most intelligent teacher I've ever had in french during years of studying this language.Apart from her solid experience and education, she had a friendly cheerful attitude that makes the class full of fun and activities to enjoy while we are learning.I hope I encounter her in future in another class.

As a FSL teacher, I love the options provided by AFToronto for children & adults to learn French.Unfortunately, I had a very frustrating experience with Alliance Française Toronto trying to book a French Immersion in France option promoted on their website. My initial inquiry was sent in January and 3 months later I was nowhere in my planning due to the lack of answers and slow replies. I understand the time difference and French bureaucracy slows things down, but there was no sense of urgency or compassion in this situation with the person I was dealing with. However, the person working the front desk was as compassionate as he could be in an area he had no control with.Nevertheless, I had to take matters into my own plans with the booking and process of studying in France through Alliance Française. I’m disappointed and seriously hope for major improvements for an incredible opportunity offered on their website moving forward.

Fantastic school if you would like to learn French! You can start with the basics if you’re totally new to the language and work your way up. The instructors are great and the materials used are great too. A language is not something you can learn overnight. You can take it to any level you wish given time and patience.

I just finished my 3rd online ZOOM course with AF. A fantastic way to learn French and enjoy the company of other students online. The course instructors are all great with an easy manner and boundless enthusiasm for making sure you get the most out of your journey with the French language and culture.

I took private lessons with Gaëlle Deschamps for the past half-year. She has always been extremely organized and very well prepared for lessons. The lesson notes are clear and concise in a Google Doc making them easy to access whenever I need to refer to a past concept. The topics she chose were always very stimulating and varied from week to week so that I build a firm foundation in the knowledge required for eventually completing B1. For many of the lessons she provided real world examples (websites from France, videos from France, resources for grammar etc.) that I could see how the new grammar concepts are applied as well as build my vocabulary. She was very patient to review anything that I did not fully understand or assimilate when it was presented in earlier lessons. She is a fabulous professor and I would highly recommend lessons with her.

Just finished a conversation course with Taraneh Vafaee! I left each session feeling very content- the lessons were engaging, enjoyable, and well constructed. Our professor made sure each student felt heard and addressed every query with grace and good humor.

Jolanda deserves a medal from the Government of Canada and the Government of France for her efforts to teach French. She really deserves to be recognized - she is most deserving. I feel very lucky and I am grateful she is my professor. She is totally amazing. She truly inspires me at each lesson to work harder and to continue with my French studies - My private tuition fees with Alliance Francis are totally worth it!!!! Jolanda has the most amazing patience when she corrects me and repeats corrections - she never makes me feel bad about my errors she makes me want to improve and be more proficient. She takes the time to explain French grammar to me and as a result I understand it more and more. As much as I am a senior, Jolanda makes me want to learn more about the French language and to speak it well.I will start my third year with her in September Its is also very helpful the learning material and exercises are excellent and well written which allows me to learn step by step. Also the audio dialogue on the CD's is very good and allows me to improve my understanding of oral French. - I am one very happy student of Alliance Francais and it is because of Jolanda !!!! merci : )

I took two conversation courses online and was quite happy. Our teacher was Taraneh Vafaee. She has a very pleasant way of teaching that makes the classes interesting, informal while getting us to learn a lot. She takes into consideration repeat students, (she gets them as they like her way of teaching) and does not repeat the texts and subjects she used in the previous course so one never gets bored. Being a conversation course the teacher needs to adapt its level to the level of the students which can vary a lot even if the students have been assessed and given a level. She is able to this very well.I do have a proposal for getting the course even better:At the end of the course it would greatly help to give each student an evaluation in order for the student to be able to judge on the best method to improve further. At this time, unless expressly requested, there is no evaluation brief report.

I took A1.1 lessons which is most basic level serving learners who do not know a word of french.. In the name of immersion the tutors would only speak in french & respond back in french.. I ended up not learning anything. To understand what was being spoken in class, I needed to use google translate. I would not recommend anyone with no French back ground from joining this course.

Went to a free concert here Thursday night with my ear plugs but the audience was fairly quiet and so we had an enjoyable evening. However, I was about 20 minutes late due to wanting to go back and check that I had not left my stove on. This annoyed the friend whom I was meeting but all in a a fun free evening. And there were other grey haired audience members dancing in their seats but luckily not hooting or screaming.
