Instant Lawns - Sod Installation Ottawa

Had irrigation system, top soil and hydroseed installed. Did a good job with the work overall. However they were late starting and raised the price quoted significantly one week prior to starting (when it was too late in the season to hire someone else to do it). Also no communication between the labourer and management led to them rototilling areas that were not part of our lawn. Extremely poor communication, hard to get a hold of often saying they will complete tasks then just never doing them. Also won't answer any emails, simply just ignoring them. Decent work but would recommend looking elsewhere.

Thank you to Clayton and his team for being so professional and meticulous. We absolutely love our backyard - the artificial grass has created the perfect space for our 3 year old to tear around. This is one of the hardest working teams we’ve encountered - even working late into Friday night before a long weekend. We appreciate your attention to detail !

They did our backyard, sod removal and new lawn installation plus some small interlock job. Very professional crew this year. We followed the instructions and 2 months later the lawn looks very well. The price was fair and they detailed the work items. The job took a little longer than expected but only by 2 days. We had a very good experience!

Extremely disappointed with my experience with Instant Lawns. Please read my full comments if you want to save your time, money and energy. My dealings with them started in may 2019. Jacob came to assess and quote the project in a timely manner. I paid my initial deposit upon receiving the quote. Due to the flooding the sod was behind schedule. That's ok I waited until mid June. And then I started calling and emailing them for eta, no answer. They just ignored me for some time. I posted my first negative review and requested my money back. Some one called me immediately after the review requesting the review to be deleted. And the person that called behaved like it was my fault not theirs. Anyway they sod my lawn in a few days. It was sometime in July. The same day they finished I received my final bill. On the bill states that I have 30 days to pay. But they called and emailed me everyday to pay my bill. Seriously!!!So two weeks after I noticed my new lawn had crab grass and weeds already. I emailed instant Lawns (with pictures). Jacob called me to assure that if in one month I have the same problem he will come and do what needs to be done. And he asked about my payment. It was two weeks after the sod. So I paid.One month later I have a lot of weeds, my lawn is on top it didn't attach to the ground. I have crab grass. I have space in between the lawn. I emailed (with pictures) and received a slap on my face that stated : you should take care of your lawn, resod, fertilize and deweed. My newly installed lawn (one month old) needs all this. What!?!!!!!!Anyway, I am very disappointed I have no words to describe my frustration dealing with them. Customer Negligence is their vision. If you are thinking of going with them do your due diligence don't get ripped off like it happened to me.All this possitive reviews should be questioned.... Just saying I am sure I am not the only one who got bad experience.This is just few pictures of my lawn that I have been working on non stop since month of July spending more money and time.

We met at the Ottawa home and garden show. We were first most impressed with their professionalism and second with their knowledge of their products. We decided to go ahead and book them to do our yard, knowing we wanted artificial turf and only the best!The guys showed up and were meticulous from start to finish. They paid very close attention to detail as my husband is quite a stickler for the small details.All this to say, they were great and would highly recommend them.Thanks again, we truly are enjoying our new back yard space.Tanya and Matt

I highly recommend Instant Lawns! Lucas and his team provided us with grading and hydro seed services, as well as an irrigation system. As the pictures show, after only 3 weeks, we had a fully established healthy green lawn at a fraction of the cost of sod. The team was great to deal with. We look forward to working with them in the future.

Instant Lawns built our interlock patio in our backyard last year and I absolutely loved the result and quality of work. It looks beautiful, clean and durable. We liked our experience with the team and I would definitely recommend them. Last spring/summer I was shopping around to find a reliable company to build our little interlock project in the backyard of our house in Orleans, lots of companies would not show up for the initial estimate visit, others were overpriced or didn’t have references or good reviews. Instant Lawns DID show up for the initial visit for the quote, they listened to our needs, took measurements, and provided a quote on the spot and the written one a few days later. They gave us the most competitive quote, we had also asked for references to check out other clients’ result. We decided to go with them and chose the blocs style and interlock design we want and they ordered it and had it delivered straight in our backyard. They completed the work in a timely manner and kept us in the loop. I am very satisfied with the result and I would hire them again for future projects!

Top notch service.We needed to remove a jungle of perennials from our backyard and replace with sod.An hour after an online inquiry I received a call from Jacob. He and Lawrence came to the house same day and provided a quote.There were some delays on actual project date, simply due to poor seasonal weather we had in 2019.Once the team did arrive, promptly at 7:00am when scheduled. The job was completed all within one days work. A very pleasant surprise when I arrived home from work!The workers were very polite and did an amazing job.Also, price was extremely reasonable compared to the 3 other quotes I received.Highly recommend.

The end result turned out great! It looks very good and is easy to maintain. The family and the dog took to it very well. It’s nice not having to put shoes on just to go to the bbq anymore or try to grow grass seed annually and maintain it constantly.But as with all things, the devil is in the details. When I was originally quoted for the job Lucas told me they would begin the first week of June 2022 and it was a two man, one day job. I also requested that he come by personally and check on the job during the installation. Of course, everything was “yes, yes, yes” until you pay your deposit….I put the deposit down and didn’t hear anything for almost 6 weeks. I was the one to call and email and only when I suggested unprofessional conduct was I replied to promptly with “ I can just give you a full refund and you can go with someone else”. So they showed up a week later, tore up the path (that I so graciously let them use instead of a wheelbarrow from the front yard as we are a row house-see photo) which they said they would re-seed after the job and didn’t and left a mess at the gate where it meets city property. There is a large flap of landscape fabric just hanging off the end and two wheel ruts leading into my backyard. It’s not integral to the finished product but to me, it suggests rushing through it and sloppiness. When the price is 4200$ for 155sqft, you’d think that they would try a bit harder. Anyway, Lucas never showed up during the job. Had he done so, I would’ve pointed that out to him and maybe he would have fixed it. But as far as I know he didn’t show up at any point. I was told “someone” came to the site and pronounced it good but it wasn’t what we agreed upon. And if I were checking the place out after it was done and before the customer paid the final bill, I would have torn a strip off the installers for their lack of attention to detail. (See photo)All of that being said, if you asked me if I’d do it again…I’d say yes. Just because it looks so good and it’s not something I could do on my own. We get plenty of compliments on it and so far it has held up to the elements, I will update this review after the coming winter. Just know that if you go with these guys be prepared for lack of communication/poor customer service and some sloppy quality control. But overall we are pleased with our investment.
