Best first time here! Will be back. The greeting at the door to the waiter who served me it was 10/10!They suggested best steak, to salad to drinks. From the time i sat to left I felt like I will be back.

This is a great classic steak house. They offer table side caesar and bananas foster. Overall, the food was great. We ordered the beef wellington medium rare but came out closer to medium well. My wife ordered the filet, and it came out medium rare (as expected).Service was perfect. Our waiter even let the kids help with the table side caesar.When we are back in town, we will definitely come back.

Great service and food quality consistently every time. Warm service and great ambiance. The cheese toast is a must order and cocktails are not too sweet for a great price point. Overall a strong menu offering. The only feedback I have is I am not a fan of the new ipad menu for drinks - takes away from the experience. This place is great for a night out as well as business occasions. Highly recommend the place

Have been here many times in the past, but it's been a while. We went for Happy hour before the hockey game. The wine was really lovely, but it should have been at $40 a glass.Unfortunately there was no burger on the happy hour menu, but the chef made us one anyway. It was great! I don't eat burgers much in BC due to the rule that the kitchen has to basically cook all the moisture out of it and burn the outside. Even though this was cooked more than I would like normally, it was not dry and tasted fantastic. The garlic in the pasture helped.The decor is classic and wonderful. Service was really to notch except our waiter disappeared for a bit and we needed the help of another, which worked out fine.We look forward to it next visit.

I've been visiting Vancouver for the last 10 years and always make it a point to come to Hy's at least once every trip (sometimes more if I can).From the moment you enter you are greeted with coat service and a welcome committee that are ready to usher you with pleasure to your table or desired seating upstairs in the more casual bar area.The atmosphere is of an old school steak house, wood line walls with a brick tunnel bringing you into the main area. From just about any vantage you will be able to witness the spectacular display of your steak being cooked through the glass enclosure. The dining area is large enough for intimate dates as well as large groups so whatever the occasion you will be pleased.The food is on par with every other 5 star restaurant, and I would put the steak preparation close to that of places like Maestros in LA. From the cook to the seasoning I've never had issue with the food, it's always been exceptional.

Despite being pricey, I would definitely recommend this place to my friends. Our visit was fantastic, and we enjoyed delicious food, including a perfectly cooked medium-rare steak (which can be hit or miss at other restaurants), beef wellington, broccoli, and clam chowder. The portions were decent, but I do wish the appetizers were a bit larger. The service was exceptional, with the staff striking the right balance of being friendly and attentive without being intrusive. They were knowledgeable about the menu and even recommended some excellent local wines to complement our meal.The food was beautiful and tasted wonderful, with standout dishes being the Tuna starter, Beef Wellington main, and Key Lime pie dessert. The wine list was extensive, and it was great to try some local wines that were recommended by the staff.Overall, we had a great experience and highly recommend this place for a special night out or a celebratory meal.

Came here for my birthday and it certainly was a nice experience. Everything from service to taste was top notch. I felt like we ordered too much, but it was hard not to, because everything looked and tasted amazing. I ordered the filet and it was done perfectly.

A bit of a mixed review. The service was outstanding! Thank you so much to all of the staff who made our dining experience a wonderful one. The staff did an outstanding job.The Caesar salads were the best we have ever had. We each had a different dessert and they were all delicious. Classics that stand the test of time. Key lime pie, cheesecake and bananas foster.However, the two 16 ounce bone in rib steaks were disappointing.One of them barely had any bone whatsoever, had a fair amount of gristle, and at the thickest part was barely an inch thick. Not at all what one would expect from a steakhouse, let alone Hy’s steakhouse.Next time, I’ll be sticking to Caesar salads and dessert.
