Grassroots K9 Ottawa

First of all, we wanted to thank you for the amazing job Suria and Caterina did with Lillie. She was super crazy at home, didn't control her emotions, and wasn't able to sit still even for a second. At the same time, we were waiting for a baby and were worried about how it was going to work out cause she may jump on a baby, and bark unexpectedly, destroying our house and furniture. After a couple of tries with different trainers, we decided to try a boarding school as a last resort, and a friend of mine recommended us Grassroots K9 and Suria, as outstanding trainers. So :) after ~ a month in a boarding school turns out Lillie can stay on her mark for almost the whole day, calm down/stop running/chase cats/chew on our poor furniture/barking at people who randomly pass by our house using just leave it" command. The guys also gave us all of the printed instructions necessary to continue training at home. We are so happy to have you guys train our dog. Now

Suria with GrassrootsK9Ottawa has been a lifesaver. Suria helped us train both our German Shepherd and our English Bulldog. She is extremely knowledgeable and patient with this fur-mamma. My husband and I purchased a working line German Shepherd, boy did we have our hands full with her anxiety. No puppy school would work with us and continuously referred us to a vet. Suria assessed our situation and really helped us manage Lyra (GSD), who is just a ball of energy mixed with anxiety. We have a completely different dog now. She explained all training tools to us and broke down how each tool worked and it really allowed our dogs to thrive. When we brought home our newborn baby, Boscoe (EBD) was not coping well and was “trying to own the house”. Suria really helped us put boundaries up and taught us how to maintain these boundaries. I highly recommend Suria to everyone. She is easy going, laid back, has flexible timing… the best part is she comes to you!

Suria worked with our 4 month old GSD while we were away for two weeks. It was great having peace of mind knowing he was in good hands, but even better was knowing that he was getting trained also. When he came back his recall was significantly better, I felt like he rarely acknowledged when you said his name and when he came back he was coming and sitting in front of you when you called him, it was pretty impressive. She also introduced the mark mat to us which has been a game changer for his impulse control. I am excited to carry on Dozer's training with Grassroots!

Suria worked with my 1 year old shihtzu poodle mix in November 2021. She is an extremely timid dog. The first two weeks of her 4 week board and train proved difficult. However, Suria took the time to get to know her and did not push or force anything before she was ready. The last two weeks were more productive. She came home to me with more confidence and better leash manners which has made her easier to work with on a day to day basis. Suria was very responsive to all my questions and was happy to discuss and explain training options that suited my dog rather than pushing a one size fits all model. I was very satisfied with the training.

One word sums up my experience with Suria, Marko and Grassroots K9. AMAZING. They are knowledgeable, patient, innovative and great at explaining what will help your relationship with your dog. They tailor the program to you and only you, I have not for one second felt like this is a cookie-cutter program. My anxious, reactive rescue dog is on a very long path of learning and Grassroots Ottawa is right there with us. We learn new things and get to chat dog on a regular basis. It's just fantastic. So A+++++++.

We sent both our 1.5yo and 4month old mini schnauzers for a 2week period and are very satisfied with the experience and overall results. It gave our eldest a good boost on working on her impulse control and a very solid behavioural base for the youngest. Suria (our trainer) is so easy to work with and her attention to details to each dogs individually gives so much confidence in the program. She definitely helps to cope with the long weeks without them knowing that they’re in loving and caring hands.Two out of two dogs recommend!

I had an incredible time learning and training with these guys! My team is familiar with what they teach and was still blown away by their work product. They know dogs. It was amazing to see them decoy and work my dog! Very thankful!

These guys are amazing!!! You can tell in every session that this is their passion!! They truely go above and beyond to ensure they achieve all goals planned for me and my dog. They genuinely want to see their clients succeed, and they have more then the required knowledge and experience to help guide you down that path. Suria is a great trainer. She really helped our dog with everything and blew away our expectations. Walking, recall, stay and much more. Certainly recommend to anyone. Especially good with families with young children.

Her ability to build a great friendly relationship with you the handler while also holding you accountable to your training plan is what sets her apart from other trainers. Whether your dog is a family pet, working dog, sport dog, personal protection dog, Suria is there to help you achieve your goals and she makes sure you the handler knows what you need to do to be successful with your dog!
