Porto Mar Restaurant
Great location, tasty food, and good value. The food was tasty and the lunch menu was of great value. The restaurant is also located in the heart of downtown inside a historical building, so as a tourist I truly felt like I was experiencing the Old Montreal. The dessert had the perfect balance between sweetness and tartness, which was quite refreshing at the end of the meal. The fish was not the freshest (understandable given that Montreal does not neighbour oceans), but great experience overall!Edit: The fish was not bad by any means! Perhaps I was just spoiled by costal BC. Cheers!

We had a lovely table d'hote lunch that was reasonably priced and delicious. The relaxed pace was perfect on a day when an escape from the heat was so needed.

The good: although the mains took awhile, it was worth the wait. Portions were generous. Dessert was delicious but servings were too small. Nice ambiance. Excellent location; close to the Old Port. Now, the bad: our server complained about not getting a large enough tip. He said he has a pregnant wife at home. How is your pregnant wife my responsibility? Also, one should understand tips are NOT mandatory, it is not required by law.I had plans about returning often as I really enjoyed my time there, this was going to be my go to" Portuguese restaurant. After this stunt

Nice atmosphere and great little restaurant in the old port of Montreal. Service was good and food portions were great, especially the main entree! The peri peri chicken is a bit too salty and would be great if served with some lemon wedges. Would recommend a starter and main entree only, desserts are okay. Great wine selection though!

If you're in the mood for some Spanish and Portuguese fare, Porto Mar is a decent place to check out.The food is pretty meh and mediocre, but it's worth checking out if you're in the area. The service is okay and the prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about, but it's a decent place to grab a bite.Just don't expect anything amazing.

Finally tried this Portuguese resto in the old port.We tried the table hotel menu that came with 1 appetizers, 1 main and a dessert with coffee. We got ceasars for drinks, but they weren't good at all. They start by giving you some fresh bread with butter and some olives, they were good.We tried the snails and cod croquettes, they were both really good.We also got a salad to share but nothing spectacular about it.The chicken main came with fries and vegetables, the chicken was okay , the white part of the chicken was dry, but the homemade cut fries were really good. The Piri Piri shrimp and calamari was good, the sauce was spicy so if you can't do spicy I won't suggest this plate, also it came with rice and veggies, overall a plate I recommend to get.For dessert we got the flan and chocolate mousse, and they were both deliciousWe went on a Saturday night and it was pretty much empty. The service to come see us the first time was really long but other then that the food came pretty fast and all. This place is good for small but seems like ppl that were there that night were big groups of over 4 ppl.

Came across this place while we were walking around in Old Montreal, and decided to stop in for lunch. The server was very courteous and friendly, and for our entrees we went ahead with the suggested daily seafood specials of cod and swordfish which were prepared in a very simple and clean manner. Really enjoyed the traditional nautical themed decor as well.
