Can I give a 6 out of 5 rating???? Maverick and his crew just finished up our deck and we are thrilled with it. Right from the start, Maverick was head and shoulders above the competition in his professionalism and approach to clients. We are so happy with the results and are bragging about Maverick Decks to all our friends. If you are looking for a contractor who will do what they say and will come in on time and on budget.....LOOK no further. Super impressed and will likely bring them back next summer for our Pergola project.

There have been several stories out there on the internet about hiring individuals to do reno work on homes that turned out horrible or worse, an unfinished mess. With that in the back of our minds, we set out with some intrepidation to find someone reliable and trustworthy to replace our 30+ year old aging cedar deck. Our initial inquiries confirmed cost to be in the tens of thousands $$ range. We approached Maverick Decks as a candidate for the job and after meeting Maverick in person we quickly realized his company would be the right choice. Mav is a young, enthusiastic, and knowledgable business person who has assembled a very skilled and reliable work team. It was a pleasure dealing with them and the quality of the work was first class. Sure there were a few glitches along the way, but Mav insured they were dealt within a timely manner and that we were completely satisfied before we paid the next instalment. We feel that his interpersonal skill set and attention to detail is rare in his industry, and we are so thankful we used his services for our new PVC deck construction. Maverick were subcontracted to build a deck for us. It was a massive project. Almost everything that Maverick constructed had to be redone. We had an engineer review the project after it was (supposedly) completed. The the two main support posts were flagged as being unsafe. One was bowed, the other was not installed perpendicular, and hence he would not sign off on the deck as being safe. RVC reviewed the deck and noted it did not meet building codes and hence was flagged as unsafe to use. Maverick consistently did sloppy work, never cleaned up after themselves. We have kids, our yard had nails, shards of metal, boards with nails lying around.The project started over 2 years ago and is still not complete. I have seen entire houses built during the time period this deck project has proceeded. The project remains in a state of 'construction' and hence a construction zone.For those considering Maverick, you will need to be aware of the building codes. If a contractor undertakes a project (small or large), the contractor must do so in accordance with the Alberta safety codes. The design and engineering drawings for our project were part of the project scope (i.e. we did not supply the engineering drawings). We trusted Maverick to design and build a structure that met all safety codes. They were taken by surprise when their design, in fact, did not meet the safety codes. How can a professional deck company not be aware of all of the building safety codes?We paid all invoices according to the agreed upon milestones. As we currently have a deck that does not meet building codes, the last milestone has not been completed. Stating that we have not paid for the entire project, thus it is our responsibility to get it fixed with the outstanding balance is absurd.From the Alberta Safety Codes Act:Contractors’ duties:8 A contractor who undertakes construction, operation or maintenance of or builds or installs any thing to which this Act applies shall ensure that this Act is complied with.The design and build of our deck did not comply with the safety standards and has been deemed 'unsafe' by the RVC safety officer. The Alberta Safety Codes Act helps protect people like me (and you) from businesses such as Maverick that will try to push the responsibility of their work onto the home owner. Yes, they built the deck to the engineering drawings they created. No, the engineering drawings did not meet building codes. If Maverick were a professional firm, they would rectify the outstanding building code violations with our structure.

We had the pleasure of working with Maverick Decks on our backyard and fence project. Everything about the project went without a hitch. It was on time and on budget. The customer service was outstanding right from the original design ideas to the quote to the building on site. Maverick, Ben and Tate were great and a pleasure to have working on our property. Maverick recently completed a large deck, pergola, raised deck for our hot tub, and an additional set of stairs, to PERFECTION!!They removed the old deck and shed cleanly.I would highly recommended this company for your composite deck project. They were very professional through the planning process, tolerated and responded to all our changes in a timely matter.The crew worked very hard especially Lucas, and the project was completed in no time.

Maverick Decks completed a renovation to our kitchen and family room. Work included: removal of sunshine ceiling and bulkhead in kitchen and replace popcorn ceiling with knock down, and new lighting, removal and replace tile in kitchen, removal of existing bookcases, mirrors, fireplace and carpet in family room and install new fireplace, fireplace surround, cabinets and hardwood floor, new knock down ceiling, new lighting and outlets for TV over fireplace. The home renovation that Maverick Decks completed was outstanding, on time and on budget. The job done exceeded our expectations and they turned our vision into a reality. Their professionalism and attention to detail was exceptional. Maverick and Lukas maintained a high standard and should be very proud of their work. We would not hesitate to recommend their services.

Interesting experience wtrying to get a quote from Maverick Decks. Initially my appointment got cancelled in their automatic booking system with no reason. Followed up and it was rebooked for the same time by Liz from Maverick. They sent out someone that had just started a week prior to do the quote. I was left confused as to why he wanted to use screw piles through my existing patio concrete. Not wanting to attach half the deck to my house. I understood that the quote would take longer than usual due to a newborn but never heard back after over a month. Follows up by email asking about the status and still have heard back. It’s interesting they have so many 5 stars with poor communication and very unprofessional.Update: Response to owners comment.I appreciate you taking the time to express your concerns regarding my review. I understand that you may have found it frustrating to see your business being reviewed before the work even started. However, the process should start at the beginning of the work being quoted. Even though it was a free quote and you are not obligated to complete the process, you should be aware that this plays a huge part of the customer service of your company.I wanted to address the unauthorized disclosure of my personal information (including full name and home address) from your response, that was made public on google reviews. It is crucial for businesses to respect the privacy of their customers and handle their information with utmost care and security.The intention behind my review was to provide feedback on my experience with obtaining a quote for a deck installation from your company. I believe it is crucial for potential customers to have access to honest and unbiased information when making decisions about hiring a service. Customer feedback should be welcomed from all businesses.

We have done many renovations on our 1990's built house both inside and out, so have plenty of experience with contracting out work. Our summer of 2019 project was to rebuild our old wood deck that had become too time consuming to maintain. Calgary summers are so short that we wanted it to be completely maintenance free. Being the whole length of the house, it is quite large, with an upper deck level adjoined to a lower patio level with steps and more steps from the patio level to the lawn surface. The perimeter has 45 degree corners and it has an integrated hot tub. We strongly felt the complexities required the work to be done by deck specialists, not a general contractor. We got a few quotes and eventually chose Maverick Decks. From our initial meeting with Maverick to the week long demolition, rebuild and cleanup by Ben and Nate we couldn’t be happier with the end result. The structure is strongly built incorporating current best practices. The dozens of 45 degree miters of the picture framed composite deck boards and steps are a work of art! It also has great looking aluminum railing with glass panels and LED lighting on the steps. Absolutely beautiful! Plus, they professionally repaired rotten sheeting above the foundation that was discovered during demolition of the old deck.We highly recommend Maverick Decks!Vicky and Irwin Calgary

Maverick and his crew are amazing! We are so happy with our composite deck. Composite decking is expensive but it is definitely worth it for the low maintenance. They are very professional, polite, skilled, and happy to answer any questions. I wouldn't hesitate to refer them.
