The service was considerate and knowledgeable, the lady at student enrollment left a big smile on my face. It is a beautiful campus, with friendly students, one of whom, is a Russian lady from the Environmental Engineering division, who gave me an insightful mini orientation. I hope I get in!

I went to BCIT for a full time “architectural technician” program 3 years ago and it was a terrible experience. My instructor, Donald Yen, has absolutely no control on his class. This is how it works, he teaches during the morning until noon and then he leaves us working on our labs for the rest of the day, sometimes late at night (because we had 24-hour access). The first few months went well, but start to loose some control before Christmas. I mentioned the issues getting worst and worst to Donald but replying he had no control on the class after he leaves. After Christmas, I went to talk to the head of the program, twice and nothing had change. Here is what we are talking about: Alcohol drinking in class, late at night or usually late afternoon on Friday’s before a large group of student goes out at the pub (yes, drinking in class is much cheaper), Xbox competition on the big screen, computer gaming, loud music on sound system (even students and the head of the program next door came several times during the year to request to lower the music), “horse playing”, and the list goes on. By the end of the year, security had to intervene. The issue had been brought up all the way to the dean, Wayne Hand. The output of the meeting was without consequences, putting it on the fact it was 2 weeks before the end of the classes. Instead, I have been discriminatory removed from the class and asked to finish my assignment from home or another class. I also needed to consult a lawyer and had a legal advisor present at the meeting. Since BCIT has deeper pockets than me, I have been suggested to not proceed with legal actions, which may change has we speak.About the campus, it’s ok, but everything is outdated and old. The building I was (NE1) has serious ventilation issues, which I developed health problem since then. It’s call “sick building syndrome”, google it. It is also NOT earthquake proof and because of it cheap built of pre-cast concrete, would fall like dominos if an earthquake was to happen. BCIT actually gave a facelift to the building last year, focusing on the look rather than the safety and air quality. If you look it all the classroom, you will find out there is absolutely NO air movement in that building, even not a fan in the bathrooms.BCIT, overpriced and low quality service.

This is an incredible place. So many possible classes and programs with up to date equipment and facilities. The staff are friendly. After graduating, the workforce welcomes grads as the school is long established for producing quality people.
