Okanagan Rail Trail Main Parking Lot

I've been riding trails since I was 8, I build my own bikes, this is one of the best trails I've ever rode on. Oh yeah I'm 60 now.

Believe it or not, after living around here for 20 years, I am discovering the rail trail. It is the little Stanley park of Vancouver. A gravel flat trail along kalamalka lake and further around wood lake. Everyone on the trail is active leading to catharsis. On hot days, it can be cooking due to the reflecting rock ground and walls along the trail so bring plenty of fluid. The majority of people you will cross path will say hi which is a nice touch and there are several pull out places to admire the view of the lake and its multiple shades of blue. I drive all the way from Kamloops to run the trail (pushing my daughter's wheelchair). At the start of the trail by the parking lot, you will find outdoor water fountain and flushable toilets that were very clean when we used them.

Convinient access to the rail trail. Washrooms are available at trail head with a water station. No bike tools available at the parking lot. There's some bike tools at the start of the paved trail on Wood lake (approx 18 km away). Trail is fairly busy on weekends. Lots of little stopping points for a beach break along the trail. At the end of the trail at Wood lake/ oyama there's an ice cream shop, mart, market, an outdoor eatery and restaurants close by.. Great way to spend the day on a bike.

Biked all the way to OK Grill from Kalavida store. Took just under 2 hours each way BUT I was on a cruiser bike and only had one gear, slow lol.

Great place to park and start the Rail Trail. Very accessible

Best place to park if you're driving a large vehicle and visiting the Rail Trail.
