I had Big Jay install my new concrete driveway in the Spring of 2020. Big Jay's crew showed up to install the driveway quickly and left my property clean.In the first winter, the driveway suffered from cracking and significant spalling. It has continued to spall extensively in the second winter. The chips that come off the driveway break in your fingers like dust. There seems to be no integrity to the top layer of the pour. Note that the driveway has a brushed finish for grip and texture.I understand that spalling can be the result of freeze-thaw cycles and de-icing salts. However, spalling can also be the result of poor finishing techniques, improper curing or a bad concrete mix. The fact that the spalling chips have no integrity suggests that concrete mix, probably combined with the overworked, brushed finish is resulting in the spalling.I contacted Big Jay who suggested that the cracking and spalling is just what concrete does. He suggest that if I don't like it I can contact the concrete supplier. All Jay does is form and pour and finish and he takes no responsibility for the quality of the mix.I am not sure if the issue is the concrete mix, the installation technique, the type and amount of road salt being used, or me for caring what my driveway looks like.

They pored my coloured concrete in the back yard. A large one around a pool. First he missed an ingredient in the mix and the colour was horrible. The only way he could fix it was to use a coloured sealer. I would then have to use it every year. He said to make it up he would give me a deal on my front yard. Not much of a deal at all. Then I caught his worker peeing in my backyard against the fence splashing onto my tomato plants. Unbelievable. They also installed very poor cheap drainage. Would never recommend this company.
