Great place for brunch! I’d rate their savory food 4 stars and sweets 5 stars. We had some waffles and coffee here and it tastes amazing. Will def come back :)

This place is incredible. Easily one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a long time. The coffee was flavorful and the service was attentive, but most importantly, the food was delicious! I also found it all to be a great value. I can’t recommend this place enough. Will definitely be back next time I’m in town.

March 2023Randomly found this place while walking around downtown Winnipeg. We were here for a five day Canadian vacation.My son had the Avocado Toast ($8), and he couldn't stop raving about it. The coffee was superb also. Water is served in old glass (probably gin or whisky) bottles with the restaurant name on it.There was a drink special of the day which our server did not mention to us when ordering at the table. I only noticed the special at the counter when we paid.A relaxed, quiet environment, yet it was 9 a.m. on a weekday morning.Clients are obviously aware of this place as there was a constant flow of takeout orders.Many of their items (sauces and syrups) are made in house such as the Gochujang sauce put on the avocado toast, and the vanilla syrup used in the coffees. Really good!The name?Apparently, when this building was being renovated in 2020, original food item (paper) invoices and photos were found. These items are displayed on the brick walls in glass frames. The business was called Modern Electric Lunch back in 1920, hence the current name. How cool is that! There always seems to be a story behind a name.This is my kind of place. A historical location, a story, and great food and drinks.Would definitely recommend this gem!

Great little spot! They have a ton of options for people with restrictions. The staff was super friendly and attentive. Food was sooooo good, not to mention the great deal on the table mimosas!! We Will absolutely be back! We highly recommend the Vegan breakfast sandwich!

I had the eggs benny, which is very tasty and filling (I couldn’t quite finish the biscuit). Their vegan bacun is delicious and very authentic. They offer lots of veggie/vegan options, and were super accommodating about switching out real bacon for a meat substitute or avocado. I’d absolutely go back again!

Loved the vibe, the staff and of course the food! The lemon scone used as the base for the Benny was unique and tasted delicious!! I’d definitely visit Modern Electric Lunch again in the future.

Love it! The coffee was delicious, the toast avocado was out of this world and the potatoes were different and still delicious. Love the service and the environment, it was a nice place to meet with friends!
