Puppy and Dog Training with John Wade - London Ontario

We hired John in December after purchasing a Cane Corso puppy. We don't live in Ontario, we live in BC, so we worked with John via Skype and email. It was the best decision and investment in our dog we have ever made. John's training is easy to put in place and follow through with. He is so helpful and always available for questions. We constantly have people commenting on how well trained our now 6 month old puppy is, and we plan to keep up with what we are doing! Our vet even asked how we were training him because he said he hadn't seen a male of this breed submit so easily and that was so well trained. This dog does what he is told because he has been given the command, he has never had a treat and does not need to be bribed with one. No matter what he is doing - whether chasing a ball, rabbit, playing with another dog or even eating, if he is called to come, he immediately stops and comes. Our 2.5 year old daughter can walk him on a leash and he stays right beside her without pulling. This is such huge change from previous dogs we have owned and trained using the positive reinforcement" method. Through following John's instructions

We had John in to train our new cocker spaniel puppy, Finn. My family had used John 12 years ago with our family dog (a newfoundland/golden retriever) and had great success so it was an easy decision to go with John Wade and his training services. Thanks to John's methods, we are already noticing a difference in bathroom habits (he is now going outside), mouthing, and jumping. John was so kind with our little guy and his training methods are easy to follow and gentle on the puppy. We like how John's methods don't use treats but instead use affection for the puppy mixed with a firm no when needed. It was not the pandemic but my location in Mongolia that prompted me to search online for advice on dog training after I rescued an abandoned puppy on the road on the outskirts of Mongolia’s capital city Ulaanbaatar.The puppy turned out to be a 6 week old German shepherd dog, and when my initial intent of just getting her well changed to keeping her, I knew I needed guidance that was practical and tailored to our needs. This was the perfect choice for us. John is helping us to be a loving authority for our new puppy. John spent two hours gathering information and getting to know us and our goals for our new puppy and our our family. His approach is both common and uncommon sense. Specifically, simple yet effect tips such as treat all situations as opportunities. We are the teacher, the puppy is the the student. No need for long sessions, in unnatural environments. Quick moments in our home. After your initial session you get one month of unlimited feedback based on the short videos that capture your training sessions. This is not our first puppy nor our first time with a trainer. However it is the first time I feel like when we are done we will have the skills needed to keep advancing. His video feedback sessions are brilliant. You get a video which is a split screen of your videos for the day and his feedback in real-time. He is so accessible and we don’t have to wait for a weekly session in a strange environment. This is like having a trainer move in for while. The combination of John’s knowledge and the video conferencing and feedback technology is far superior to any other training modality. We very quickly started to see improvements. We could not recommend John and his approach more.

With two dogs and a newborn, things were a little crazy.. We've been working with John now for three weeks and I can already see a huge difference in the dogs' behavior. His virtual approach worked so well for us. We learned so much during first two-hour session and were able to start implementing right away and with barely any additional time devoted to training. We were able to fit the training into things we were already doing. The ability to send videos which he answers with some tune up tips/suggestions has also worked well. We've tried a number of other styles of training with both dogs and by far, John's way has been the best. Makes a lot more sense to teach dogs how to behave rather than bribing them with treats. Also teaching them life skills as opposed to tricks is so much more useful. I only wish we had started this sooner. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Met John Wade about 15 years ago. His advice coaching with a difficult rescued dog stayed with me. A month ago when we decided to adopt a new puppy he was the first person I looked up. I have to say I was a little worried and confused about this virtual set up and not being able to do in person training.Let me tell you it is remarkable. There is an initial process with meeting with John on line etc and then you do the work with his on going guidance. I love the video reviews. They affirm what you are doing well, plus constructive feedback and amazing tips to will set me up for success when the dog gets older.You can replay and really learn. His professional eye can observe things I would not even notice. So in the overall scheme of things this is the videos are most valuable piece. I definitely would not have remembered or learnt as much if we just met and then I walked away and apply until next meeting.
