If you don’t mind buying clothing with glue stains, holes and print imperfections on the fabric…. You’ll be served! They had a stand at the Black Canadian Summit in Halifax in July. I bought a $200 dress to attend a wedding in August. Yesterday, while I was getting prepared, I realized that the dress had a hole and glue stains all over it. In panic, I reached out to the owner. She told me that the glue would come off with steam ironing. It did not. Furthermore, the fabric had print defects that appeared on the torso and at the back of the garment. At last I found a hole on the skirt, near the left pocket. With 2 hours from the start of the ceremony I’ve realized that I just couldn’t wear the dress anymore. I ask for a refund but the owner suggested that I pay packaging and shipping fees to return the faulty dress. 1) I did not order the dress online hence I never assumed shipping costs for the merchandise from Montreal to Halifax. 2) I spent at once over $500 worth of merchandise at the event only at their stand and I called my sister while I was attending so that she could buy too. They should’ve been able either to make the gesture to cover the shipping fees or to consider the dress a lost and fully refund my purchase. 3) When I buy from local artisans products at a certain price level, I expect in return high quality and good service which I did not get. 4) It’s not that I don’t like the dress it’s that it has defects. Hence the business should take charge of shipping and handling for defect products. I deeply regret supporting this business. I’m a loyal customer and I do a lot of referrals. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with the way things turned out with them. I don’t recommend (anymore).

Funmi made me a spectacular dress for a wedding in Uganda. She made some custom changes to my dress including a corset and a matching tie for my husband.Working with Funmi was easy. She communicated very well and was responsive to my questions. I'm looking forward to more pieces in the future.
