Calma Sailing

My experience attending the Calma Sailing on-board classes from June 5-9, 2023 was wonderful! The well-cared-for and clean boat added to the overall enjoyment of the experience. It's great that Dominic was so knowledgeable and patient, making him invaluable in my journey as a novice sailor.The classes covered both practical and theoretical aspects of sailing, and I feel I gained a solid foundation in both sailing and docking the boat, in light to moderate winds. The successes gave me confidence and made the experience more enjoyable.Dominic's enthusiasm and lifelong dedication to his own learning and teaching are evident in his approach. It's inspiring to have an instructor who is passionate about their craft and shares that passion with their students.The food was flexible, I preferred vegetarian, and every meal was delightful.I had an exceptional learning experience during the on-board sailing classes. Having a skilled teacher like Dominic has made it very enjoyable.

Dominik is a wonderful teacher and gracious host. I had so much fun learning to sail while enjoying a peaceful and relaxing adventure through desolation sound. Would absolutely recommend taking his course or a chartered tour on his beautiful sail boat. Thank you Dominik and family!!!

I was so excited to get to learn more about sailing for a whole week. There is no way i could have imagined how exciting it would be. The sailboat was spectacular, the food Ania prepared was outstanding, the sailboat training was thorough and purposeful, the instructor was easy going, prepared and one of the best instructors I have had for any subject I have studied. An unexpected highlight was the blessing of dining, chatting and exploring Desolation Sound with three unique, generous, thankful, fun people. Thanks Dominik!

I just spent 5 days on a liveaboard course with Calma Sailing and it was the BEST! Domenic is an excellent instructor and I felt that we were in the best care on the trip. The Discovery Islands is an incredible place to learn to sail - we saw pods of humpback whales, orca, and he showed us so many magnificent wilderness gems around the islands - it was the most amazing classroom on the water! I feel so much more confident to sail my own boat and will absolutely be coming back for more courses and tours with Calma.

I had a great anchoring lesson from Dominik. He was very professional and personable. His instruction was clear and he gave practical 'hands on' examples. He provided lots of technical information as well. After a couple of hours I felt confident anchoring in a variety of situations. I would highly recommend Dominik for any sailing instruction.

Dominik is a great teacher and full of knowledge! Before taking his lessons, I was pretty nervous about sailing and being out on the water. Dominik helped me become a more confident, capable sailor. I highly recommend him for anyone wanting to learn how to sail or to learn more about sailing!

I just completed an amazing week of sailing with Dominik aboard his lovely Beneteau 40 Sailboat in order to earn my Canadian basic cruising certification. Dominik is a very knowledgeable, experienced and patient instructor. He truly cares that his students are achieving their goals. Everyday (breakfast, lunch and dinner) Dominik and his wife Ana carefully planned and prepared delicious, healthy food. The only thing we students had to do before or after a day of sailing was to enjoy the picturesque locations where we learned to anchor, dock, or moor. This was an incredible learning adventure with Calma Sailing in beautiful Desolation Sound. All of my expectations were far exceeded.

Where does one start? Dominik provided both my wife and myself an unforgettable experience. A calm, soft spoken professional, very forgiving of the multitude of errors we made. Entertaining stories and spectacular anchorages. A solid learning experience.
