Vancouver Public Library, South Hill Branch

Staff is kind and friendly. Book selections are very large.

Had a very negative experience here. We returned a book that had damage that had been caused by someone before us. The librarian would not discuss it and refused to believe us. What could I say? We are happy to pay for lost books or fines as we need to, but she basically called us liars and said it looked like a dog had chewed it (we don't have a dog). We paid so as to not make a scene bc my daughter was upset but was very disappointed. Worst experience I've ever had at VPL.

I love all the VPL branches but this one is closest to our home now. The staff are always very friendly and helpful (and welcoming to my 6 year old!). There are frequently new books added, and interesting displays that are often updated. You can also get games, magazines, DVDs, music, etc. Everything you could want from a library - this branch is small but mighty!

It's a smaller library but, has all the usual amenities of a lager library.

Got some computer work done, staff were helpful for the startup. Library is nice and clean - looks like renovations done, new flooring, fairly recently. Very customer friendly.

Awesome service. If you don't have a library card they can make you a temporary one with just using 1 piece of ID, I had to print some documents out and you do so at any public library. It takes 40cents per paper to print . So be sure to carry loose change on you.

Staff are friendly and informative. Small library with good collections of books. The hours are only till 6.00 p.m. most of the days. They have separate kids section. Some programs for kids in summer time.

I love this places.The staff is really kind and nice. I had really good experience and I go there very often.Sometimes is very noisy because is not reay big library and people make copies. Also there are kids there so they laugh and scream.But this is quite normal, so anyway is a great place.Thanks to all staff that works there!

On Sunday 21st if May 2023, one old man came to this library. He was usually a client. He watched movie and this is what usually he did and sometimes laughed. The lady who is working in library and always has a role of supervision people notified him to leave. Old man left but came back again and said why I should leave? I just laughed. I didn’t do anything wrong. It ended to call police to make him leave! Is a sad story that why a lady behaves so bossy as a supervisor in Library who makes an old man who may only have library to pass some time watching movie ends up like this. It left us shocked and sad that here in Canada human rights are like this! All day we were stressed and s d thinking to the old man.

Very quaint library. Airconditoned is a plus. Usually people are respectfully quiet here...usually but you do get parents who think it's okay to let their children throw a tantrum without taking them outside to be respectful of other patrons.Some occasionally loud people..but mostly enjoyable. Not a big selection of books and magazines but doable
