The first thing that sold me on Optimind was that treatment begins as soon as you enter the door. It’s a meeting that will remind you of how important you truly are, because in that moment there is nothing more important to them than you.The treatment itself I found intimidating at first—it is true that the sensation is strange—but I quickly grew comfortable with it as it became a normal, even routine, part of my day. What’s more, their amazing staff is with you for the whole journey, allaying any concerns or feelings of unease you might have.Results for my came quickly and strongly, within 1-2 weeks. Depression and anxiety that began to respond poorly to medication just dissolved away. I have never had such a robust response to treatment—it almost defies believe. It has been maybe 15 years since I’ve felt this well. Moreover, I now know I have somewhere to go if I happen to relapse, a treatment that works, and is free of the side-effects that accompany medication. I was referred to rTMS by a friend in the medical profession. I'd never heard of the process, but I was at probably the lowest point of depression I'd been in the 45 years it's been a part of my life. I emailed and got a reply very quickly. From the first introduction with Kim and demonstration by Maddy and Takara, to my first appointment the next week, every interaction was compassionate and supportive with never a hint of judgement.The bulk of my treatments were with Maddy. She was always a perfect blend of professionalism, patience, and caring. After trying every option available for depression, I was admittedly pessimistic about the prospect of rTMS doing any good. I saw no results initially, and in fact, things were probably a little worse. Kim and Maddy continued to be supportive, answering questions (repeatedly), and never making me feel foolish for asking.Things turned the corner on the Friday morning that would be the midpoint of treatment. I woke up and sat on my bed as usual, and realized for the second day in a row, my very first thought wasn't disappointment over having lived through the night again. I couldn't remember the last time that had happened, but at a guess, a decade or more. I don't have a terrible life at all, but that and a constant awareness of suicide, was just part of being me. From that point on, the improvements continued steadily.My last few treatments were with Takara. She brought a her own unique personality, but absolutely all of the compassion and professionalism. She took me through the final evaluations skillfully with the same confident professionalism I'd learned to expect from Optimind.I'm currently about 6 weeks after completion. The improvements have continued to progress. A close relative has confirmed they see the same remarkable changes I feel. I've realized the depression was accompanied by anxiety I had never understood to be unusual. I would never have considered myself to be anxious, but in retrospect, it's clearly been a destructive part of my life.If you're wondering if this is the right time to take this chance, the answer is no.
