Kalvas the Log House
We had dinner at Kalvas on a Friday night for a birthday celebration. We had a reservation, but when we arrived were asked to wait, even though there was a table empty, which we thought was curious. We ordered the Prime Rib which was the special that night. A small basket of bread is brought to the table but no offer to refill it while waiting. This would be ok if dinner came within a reasonable time, but ours took over an hour to come. The server did stop by once to apologize, saying there were big orders in front of ours. That did not really make sense either, as the special that night should be prepped and ready to plate and serve. We found the Prime rib itself a bit tough. Its is presented nicely and the fresh vegetables were nicely done - still crisp. We were disappointed in the long wait, but would give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was just busy. We would try it again and try a different dish on a different night.

Steak, while good, was over cooked. Ordered med-rare and got med+. Steak comes smothered in a sauce (?) with mashed potatoes with vegetables. Substations were not offered. Apple pie and chocolate mousse were awesome.

Many thanks to David and his team for another amazing dining experience! The service was, as always, friendly and professionally relaxed and the Panko Crusted Halibut was incredible! So fresh and prepared to perfection. And the Crème Brûlée is absolutely addictive!

Would give 3.5 if possible.Wonderful log cabin building with lots of character. Have been going here occasionally for 30ish years and it's not like it used to be".Food was good

Kalvas the Log House
I had a gift card for Kalvas for $50 so I decided to give it a try. It’s not the style of restaurant I usually eat at. I had take out but the ambiance inside was very aesthetically pleasing! I ordered the seafood pasta, it came with a little garlic bread piece. The food was ok, nothing to brag about but not bad either. Good tasting scallops!

Is it bad to post another review 3 months after the last one? Not if you’ve been twice more to your favorite place to eat filet in BC, traveling for work from California.Once I knew I was headed to BC again all I could think about is having another wonderful filet at Kalvas in Parksville to treat myself after grueling days of work.The sauce on the filet is simply the best I’ve ever tasted. Everything was cooked to perfection. I’ll be back when I’m in the area for work.The Tiramisu is also fabulous and the wait staff friendly and prompt.

Recommend the Prime Rib on Friday + Cheesecake! The staff were so friendly and the food came quickly. This will be a stop every time I visit Parksville.

Kalvas the Log House
Went here for the first time with my husband and mother-in-law. Hanna was our server and she gave us an exceptional service! We had some oyster, the steak special and some cheesecake. The steak I hope have the sauce on side so we can just dip the pudding in it. Aside from that, everything was great! Highly recommend to phone them to get the best sit in the house specially if you are celebrating a special occasion! Overall, we had great experience! :)

Wow. What a fantastic meal! Both the steak and the prime rib were right up there with some of the best. I'd stack Kavlas up to Hy's, Ruth's Chris, Black and Blue, or Ed's Warehouse (if anyone remembers that old gem) any day! From the first taste of warm focaccia with balsamic-honey, through to the very least spoonful of Grand Marnier creme brulee, or tastebuds were treated to a decadent, delightful experience.Despite the top-billing quality, the atmosphere what you might expect from a place called 'The Log House'. It's very island friendly, meaning you'll feel just as comfortable wearing jeans and a hoody as you might wearing your Sunday best. No extra-hoity attitudes, although the food could demand it!And the service! We were treated to a friendly, welcoming, surprisingly well-informed, and funny banner along with attentive service without ever feeling like we were under a microscope or being rushed.Incredible experience all around. Thank you very much, Kalvas!
