Brown Donkatsu

Relatively good katsu place. It has a Korean twist on it. Their serving sizes are also respectable. Slightly too much panko for my liking, and the 3rd spicy level (out of 4 options) isn't too spicy. Friendly and fast service. Waiters always checking in on you.

We went to Brown Donkatsu for lunch. The place is narrow but with ample seating for 6-7 groups. It was a bit cold so maybe some more heating would help. The service was prompt and good. The food was very tasty - I had their pork donkatsu with brown sauce and my partner had the cheese bomb. The food was delicious - the meats were tender and perfectly crispy and the sauces were tasty. Only one advise - order one dish for two people - we had leftovers for dinner cause the portions were so big. Not a lot of other things on the menu but different variations of fried pork, chicken, so be ready for that.

I've been here a few times now and can confirm that the food and service has been consistently superb! I've tried different donkatsu's and so far no complaints with any of them. Definitely will recommend to anyone to come here and eat and the portions are great for big eaters like me too!

The portion was quite big, the tonkatsu was very crispy. Quite pricey, but i guess the big portion made it worth somewhat. Had the cheese-filled ones, as well as the regular with both carbonara and brown sauce - both are pretty good. It came with a bit of rice, salad, corn, and bowl of cream soup (which taste like one of those instant soup packet, not the best kind of soup). The place itself is quite small so can be quite packed during busy times.

Good service, generous but not so tasty food, tacky seating.I had the Brown Teishoku and Shrimp. Their Katsu are thin coated with thick crispy batter. Not so generous with the sauce, and the rice that comes with is not enough in comparison with the meat provided. The meat is too dry, and the pork has a very distinct cheap meat taste. Chicken is much better.The shrimp is also very dried and the mayo did not help. Not much taste to the shrimp besides the batter.Cream soup that comes at the start taste like flour and water with salt and pepper. Why bother serving this.Corn and slaw didn't taste much either.Definitely a generous portion overall with a price tag that accommodates those wanting a larger meal but don't care about the taste. Definitely much better places in downtown Toronto serving Katsu than here.

I got a recommendation from a friend to go here and they did not disappoint. Very very reasonable prices and amazing katsu!! So crispy! Can’t wait to go back!! We got the spicy combo katsu and the pork and chicken katsu! I would say if it’s two people, get like one katsu dish because I only ate like one piece of the chicken and rice! The white creamy sauce was amazing too! The brown sauce wasn’t very spicy but we did get level 2, and I would try level 3 next time!

I have come to this location 3 times. Every time I visit this location with my wife, we are always satisfied and very full. The portions are very generous. I forgot to take a picture of our dishes but please see the picture I posted of my almost finished plate. I weigh over 200 pounds and I am taking my time with my last pieces. I am writing this review now because I need a break from eating all this amazing Katsu.The staff here are amazing, especially Bella and Eve. These two show tremendous passion and kindness to all their guests. They make everyone feel welcome with their warmth and smiles.My wife and I will be visiting again very soon.

I really liked their breading which is a lot different compared to other katsu places. It was crispy and airy and felt lighter. Their signature sauce was also good. The Hot and spicy one came on a sizzling plate but I did wish it was a bit more hotter when it came out so that the cheese could really melt and crispy on the hot plate. They do give big portions (usually two big katsu) and is definitely worth the price.

This was my first time trying the Korean food. The girl was so patient and spent more time explaining the options without any pork ingredients. Also she recommended us the milk soda which was amazing. I liked the taste and serving, definitely will be back again.

I got the cheese and original sauce combo, and it came with a sauce a bit like milk. It tasted pretty good but I didn’t know the one I ordered was so big in portion, like there was two huge pieces of Katsu with rice and corn on the side it was too much for me to finish. I wish they asked me or told me before. I would have just asked for one piece instead of two. I had to take it home and I still didn’t finish it because the sauce because soggy and it wasn’t good to eat anymore. I also wish they have cheese and curry combo. The service is nice.
