Edomae Kiyomi
Perhaps I came on a bad day, but the service was not up to par for such a high end restaurant. As you may have read from other reviews, the restaurant is split into two, serving both sushi and tempura omakase during the same time slots. There was only one server assisting both sides. Understandably there is a staff shortage due to the pandemic, but I felt that the attitude of the server was not very welcoming. She was always in a rush and there were instances where she came off as rude.I tried the sushi omakase, and it was alright, was not blown away or impressed by anything. Most nigiri pieces were overpowered by wasabi. Home-made soup tasted very watery. Was disappointed by the ikura. Usually this is paired with another fish, I’ve seen it being paired with Kani and Uni in the past, but on this day we just got shredded cucumbers. The chef didn’t really explain each piece or answer any questions customers had. He was very focused on making each dish. I don’t think his English is very good, which is fine. However what baffled me was how there was a couple that evidently never had omakase, and they were never explained the process. The chef kept looking over at how things were being eaten wrong, but never notified the server to come over and explain. Other customers had to step in, which I can only imagine took away from their experience.Overall the omakase experience was pretty mediocre and underwhelming. I’m glad I got to check Edomae off my list, but I don’t think it was worth the $148 price tag.

Came for the 2nd time to try the tempura omakase (had the sushi omakase the first time) and was just as impressed as the first time! Never had tempura omakase before and this was just so good. Watching the chef prepare and make each piece was great - the attention to detail is amazing. In total, there were about 12 pieces (half seafood, half vegetables), with a few pieces of sashimi to start and a rice dish at the end, and it was definitely enough. Service and ambience were excellent. Overall fantastic meal!

Being the only tempura omakase in Toronto is attention worthy on its own. I had come for both the tempura and sushi omakase and the experience was more than worth it. A tranquil experience accompanied by quality sushi/tempura made for a worthy dinner plan.I also got my fill from the omakase and did not leave hungry

Food was delicious and plentiful.Rice was a bit too mushy and wet.. for the price you pay I'd expect them to have the texture perfect.Server kept touching the top of each glass she gave us where our mouths go though.. need to work on that servicing etiquette.Overall a great experience and not as bad as the poor reviews say.Must try once!

Omakase is not that common in Toronto, but most of them focus on sushi. This is where Edomae Kiyomi differentiates. They offer an omakase meal built around their exquisite tempura dishes! The exterior and interior of the restaurant is understated, and it helps accentuate the food and its preparation. We had the tempura meals and they were exquisite and outstanding. The two chefs were courteous and informative. The creations were unique and extraordinary. It is an experience well worth your time.

My friends and I came here for one of my girlfriend’s birthdays. We did the Sushi Omakase for $120, the sushi was fresh and every bite was delicious. One of my friends did the Tempura Omakase and loved it as well. The place is small and very intimate and quiet—as most omakase places are.

I went there for my husband’s birthday. It’s my first tempura omakase experience. Surprisingly it is a very nice experience. Foods are fresh and tasty. The chef is really funny and professional. I would go back to try sushi omakase.

It was such a pleasure to dine in at Edomae Kiyomi - the first Japanese restaurant to serve Tempura Omakase in Toronto. Certainly the best-tasting tempura I have ever had in my life. The food they make is such an artistry, and their seafood is just so fresh. Very traditional and authentic Japanese fine cuisine, really worth the price! They also have seasonal ingredients once in a while - I visited yesterday and they served matsutake (a very expensive and rare mushroom). It was an absolute surprise!P.S: There is a 15% discount for cash payment!
