Warning, do not bring your loved one to this establishment ! We got transferred from the hospital to transitional care on 5th floor . It is crowded, old, dirty , short staffed , handful of staff like what they do the rest just ignore and avoid the seniors . My long term friend was almost left bleed to death on 5th floor . We were told doctors visit the seniors 3 times per week we never met a doctor. I requested an ambulance right away for my friend and she got admitted to the hospital because she lost a lot of blood . Please do yourselves a favor and don't take your senior to thos place even for short time

Provincial inspectors reported on health and safety concerns in this dive -- thatresidents werent getting their meds, werent getting enough water, staff notwearing protective gear etc. 81 people died there and another hospital had to step in and take over. Can I give these criminals a rating of -467?

My 81 dad was at Tender Care for a short period of time in transition before they found him a permanent long care spot. The staff was so caring and amazing. They kept him fed and clean all the time. All the staff on the 5th floor were amazing. Bernardette was fantastic.I always felt safe going in there I love the idea of them doing Rapid tests to every person that enters the facility.The place is a little outdated but the staff make up for that.

I write this review as a warning to anyone who plans to have one of their loved ones live here. I had my mother living at this facility before covid-19 for few years before she died. I believe that my mother’s passing was not solely a result of her age but also by the cumulative neglect and disregard from her nurses

My 98 year-old father has recently moved to a nursing home in Stouffville on April 11 after six years at Tendercare (5/F). My family and I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff, and especially to the staff on the 5/F --thank you for your kind and compassionate care of my father. We are particularly grateful for your professionalism during the stressful months at the height of the pandemic.I wish to make a suggestion regarding finalizing payments. During an in-person meeting to discuss the final payment with an admin on April 8, I was notified that after paying the accommodation fee for an additional month as notice payment according to the terms of the contract, all fees will end on May 5. I was surprised to receive another invoice by mail notifying that I am required to pay an accommodation fee until May 31 via bank autopay; The remaining balance will be reimbursed in approximately two weeks time. The admin should have notified us of such arrangement on the day we discussed finalizing payments. We are fortunate to be able to manage the unforseen sum at Tendercare in addition to fees at the new nursing home, but many seniors are not. I sincerely hope Tendercare can improve on the procedure for finalizing payments and its communication with the residents and their families regarding payment procedure.

Food is okay, which is the best thing about Tendercare. Everything is anything BUT tender. Staff is very rude to visitors, and are negligent of residents at best, or outright cruel at worst. Unfortunately, in the experience of my grandmother, it has been more of the latter.Hygiene is outright terrible as always, so it is not a surprise that over 80 residents have died here during COVID-19 (including some I know from church).In the case of my grandmother, they often do not administer her required medications on time nor as per the instructions, including those for her hyperthyroidism.This is why we are planning to take her back home.

Horrible,disgusting. The government should be closing this place down. Do not let anyone talk you into this place. I feel for the staff on the 5th floor but the conditions are deplorable. Dirty floors, overcrowded hallways, rooms in disrepair, staff and residents crammed in hallways. Horrible. Run away. Extendicare should be charged with cruelty.

A terrible and inhumane establishment. The staff have no handover or training and do not care about patients. They see them as beds. Elder abuse is rampant. If you do not care about people, don’t go into the healthcare field. I see all these five star reviews are fake or from staff. I hope these awful doctors and nurses acknowledge their abuse and malpractice one day. How is this place still open?

Negligence and elder abuse. Do not take your loved ones here unless you want them to get even worse than they were before you brought them. Everyone at this facility should be ashamed— unsure how they sleep at night. As a clinician, I would never treat my patients with such negligence. I never would write a review like this otherwise, but please DO NOT take your family members here.
