I went to see Edward Cambridge after a severe bout of lower back pain that began in November of 2021. I had previously visited a chiropractor who ended up aggravating the pain and left me unable to walk. I had extreme acute pain in my lower back that was persisting for months. At its worst, I could not leave my room and had to have food and water brought to me.Dr. Cambridge was incredible. He begins your session by gathering your injury’s history. He then diagnoses the seriousness of your injury and to assess whether you need back surgery. He then gave me some movements that would help relieve some pressure in my lower spine. By the end of the first session, I was able to walk a little. After the second session, I was given more exercises and a few months later I am mostly recovered.Dr Cambridge has an extremely detailed and researched backed understanding of lower back pain. I really recommend that you visit him if possible.

I should've written this review a long time ago as it's been over a year since I've visited him. I had a previous thoracic disc herniation a decade ago and a lumbar annular tear 4 years+ now. Both times I seen him, were very thorough (more than anybody I've ever seen.) and his work with Stuart McGill is obvious. Following the McGill approach has helped me tremendously, and following Edward's modifications on it and advice helped me manage my pain for years. He gave me HONEST advice and information that many physios and chiros never say - (Sports physios telling me I'm going to heal in a few months) when in reality, it takes much longer than that. He emphasized that healing isn't just doing this exercise n that, it's actually about avoiding certain dysfunctional everyday movements, getting out of bed/chair/couch,etc the incorrect way, and also doing exercises correctly, not overdoing it, and putting in the commitment for everyday core and stabilization exercises. He went over everything with me and was very generous with time, has a great sense of humor. I would highly recommend if you want a thorough evaluation, a concrete everyday plan, what to do vs not to do, and other great advice. With a regular chiro or physio, you will get soft tissue work, maybe an exercise or two, but never this kind of in depth treatment and knowledge.

A few years ago I spent a half day with Dr. Cambridge for a consultation on my pain issues. He had no rehabilitation ideas at all. I thought that someone with such credentials would be more helpful, especially because he charged me $1,200 for the consultation. He is a very nice man but short on ideas. I am happy to say that I am now pain free thanks to an excellent physio, a very experienced chiropractor and the unique offering of rolfing.

I was told that the solution to all my back problems was doing the big 3 exercises and modifying how I moved my back for daily activities. I was advised that everything any other practitioner to told me up until that point was wrong. After months of strengthening my low back doing the big 3, reading the book and watching all the videos religiously my issues did not go away. Ironically the issue was my cervical spine and atlas. When my atlas was aligned I had no low back pain.Edward was a nice man but looking back I feel most of his business is based on one visit with a very high price tag. No follow up with calls or emails to clients to see how they are progressing etc.
