Meridian Credit Union

Branch manager and employees are not knowledgeable in basic principles. Made a critical mistake with my accounts and did not know how to fix it.

I booked an appointment to apply for a personal, undecured line of credit with Meridian. The paperwork and credit check, etc was done, but additional information/documents were needed.After some back and forth through email, everything checked out okay. I was told after approval that I have to pay mandatory insurance on the line of credit. With a score in the 800 range, I found this ridiculous, especially since I wasn't applying for a large amount.I wanted to switch to Meridian and close my account with CIBC. I guess I'll continue with CIBC since there's no mandatory insurance requirement.The application was a complete waste of time.Why couldn't I be informed of this up front, before going through the application process?

I am currently a member at the Waterloo Branch. I have had such a great experience with this branch. The staff is super friendly and respectable. They helped me purchase my first home. The process was seamless. I didn’t know a lot of things since it was my first home and they explained everything step by step. We also met the Manager Amanda. She likes to meet all her new members at her branch. She congratulated us and gave us a little housewarming gift. We felt so welcomed when the manager took time out of her day just to meet us. Amazing branch will recommend to anyone. I Worked with Zey and Ron and both advisors were fantastic compared to the service you get at the big banks. Will refer all friends and family going forward!

Cannot rely on the hours displayed on the web site or hours posted on the door.Id like it if it were a little easier to move money online between different financial institutions and accounts.

Since I moved, I have had a very different experience with Meridian, due to the operations at this branch. Today marks the third time I have gone in for an in-office need, only be turned away. The staff are polite, but management leaves untrained people alone without anyone to help them. This trend predates covid conditions. Their solution is to recommend that I travel to Cambridge or Guelph branches to get a new debit card or to buy a registered plan.

This branch is horrible. They are to be open on Saturdays but for some strange reason they decided to close every Saturday until may. I don't care if you close every other day in April but make sure you are open on the first of the month if it doesn't fall on a Sunday. Time to switch to another credit union that doesn't manage like it's a lemonade stand. Furthermore atleast update your site on Google maps.

I wish we had a better understanding of how things are going on.1. Our payment is not being deducted on time, givng us hard time to budget our money.2. My wife just found out that our city tax is not yet paid.This been going about months now i hope you guys help us fix this issue.

I went on Saturday morning September 11 they're supposed to be open until 1pm, but they are closed. I checked on their website and it said open it 1pm.The sign on the door said due to unforeseen circumstances the branch couldn't be open.Someone didn't want to go to work on a Saturday morning !!

The staff at this location are all so very helpful, super friendly. It's a pleasure to go in there every week. Best financial institution I've ever dealt with.

Great credit union, the staff is always pleasant to deal with, great GIC rates.
