Irresponsible mental health workers. They cut me off from services because I moved. I asked them to wait until after Christmas as it was December and my husband had died and Christmas was a really hard time for me. They cut me off anyway. I went through Dec with no support as I was on a waiting list in my new community. I relapsed into a deep depression and was having suicidal thoughts.I never felt like the staff cared. It always seemed like they were too busy to talk to me and when I did get to speak with someone it seemed like I was a huge burden for them. It's very unfortunate that this service is so unhelpful.

'Dr' Kay is the most unprofessional, useless and rude person I have ever encountered, I read a lot about this place but It's extremely concerning when a 'doctor' who you're supposed to trust, calls you picky for asking for a medication that won't affect your heart. Real doctors are supposed to advise and know about your health history and not make you feel like a burden, this guy made me feel unheard and like I was asking for too much. I will never trust another 'doctor' (other than my own GP) to be vulnerable, I don't know how these people get into the field, but I will tell you that THEY are what's wrong with the system, not the receptionists, not the intake nurses, the so called doctors are what is wrong. BC needs a rehaul.

First of all they call you from a unknown number which is irritating because you have to Google their number to get back to them. I was told to be there well before the 9am start, and waited for my orientation which is always on a Monday. I was told to sit and wait and someone will come get me, which they never did and 9:05am....nothing!? I go back up to the receptionist and after having office staff eventually walk to the door, and the person running the orientation had the balls to say that I was late and I couldn't come in even though she made eye contact with me sitting in the office lobby across from the meeting room, the better part of 20 mins prior to the meeting while I waited. It is incredibly disorganized and their program is basically one size fits all, so if it doesn't work you are SOL!!! There is no one on one to work with you, so you can forget about that! I asked questions relating to their services and they don't have answers, rather they tell you to go online and check other services available!? Don't get me started on the psychiatrist prior to all of this, he is cold, abrupt and kind of like get them in and get them out" to see if you're even a candidate for this program. The psychiatrist wouldn't stop looking at the clock while you're basically spilling your guts to him

Case manger by the name of Shauna; extremely confrontational, is a very rigid bad listener, cuts you off a lot when you try to explain your story, very cold cutthroat personality

I've been calling consistently since August 12th for an update. It is now November 1 and I was just told my file has been closed. I never received a phone call back, even after I was assured my referral was in que" I'm incredibly disappointed with this service."

I needed drastic help as I was quite distraught and though I might harm myself. I was told by the receptionist the wait to hear back was up 6 to 8 weeks. The receptionist was amazing she heard in my voice I needed help now. She said she wasn't a mental health worker but told me to go to Emergency seeking psychological help. They could assist me straight away. She was kind and warm. I would give her a 10 star.I'm sure she was responsible for the call I received from a worker within a day. Awesome I thought, but after going through my story with this person all she could do was question me, and offered to tell me about two different groups they had going at their place. That isn't going to work for me, I needed someone I could relate to and trust to get through the hell I was living. i didn't get help here. I got a pat on the head (which probably wasn't her aim) and told 'well not sure what I was told' other than 'we cannot help you'. My cousin who is a psych nurse was shocked. I recommend them if you want to divulge you history and struggles in a group.I went in a week later and gave the receptionist a gift card for hearing my pain. She was so surprised...to hear her compassion was helpful. She made me feel like a heard.

The lack of actual help covered in constant bureaucracy and delay is truly remarkable. after an actual visit now that was even more of a joke, country club for govt workers behind locked doors. effort ?? no idea what that means

My own experience wasn't that bad. But I have to say I had many years of experience with other groups, doctors psychologists psychiatrists self help groups, books etc. so what they were offering I was comfortable with. Basically Tri cities was there to offer some support. They can not cure you and they do not replace psychiatrists or psychologists. A referral at least to a psychiatrist is necessary and there are several with long waits.Mental health is not a linear problem and you will always be managing your symptoms. I agree with most voices here that often staff have many shortcomings. Just remember most of them have probably not walked in your shoes and do not interpret or see the world the way you do. They may never understand your fears, anxieties, shame loss of reality etc. that come with your shoes. Be patient and seek many resources. If you get even one helpful piece of information or kindness from a group it's worth it. IfTri cities is not the right resource for you there are others.Your mental health is your journey to walk in as many shoes as you need until you find the ones that feel comfortable.
