This is probably the best campground you can find in the area. The views are amazing, the accommodations are awesome (washers/dryers, full hook-ups available for RVs, FRESH OYSTERS ON SITE, etc...), and the staff were all super friendly. It's is one of my favorite campgrounds ever. (One warning: the mosquitoes in this area are the size of birds, so make sure to pack your bug spray!)

Didn’t stay here (unfortunately!) but I did stop by for some oysters on my drive around the Cabot Trail! After seeing thier signs for many km of the trip, finally at .5km away I said “aw, shuck it!” a d made a detour. So glad I did! It was fun to swing by and I enjoyed 9 gorgeous and fresh local oysters- served with all the appropriate accomplishments- before getting back in the car to finish the loop! Absolutely a must do!

Location was great but you would need to have a second vehicle if you have an RV because most things are a car ride away. Beach was beautiful but it was approximately a km walk. The hosts Sue and Alex were awesome, very lovely to talk to and knew the area very well. If you are lucky enough to go there at certain times of the year you will be able to get fresh snow crab which Alex cooks and of course oysters.

We went only for the oyster bar. It was 2.25$ each or 23$ for 12. There was wine and beer also offered. The oysters were very fresh and opened right before us. Choice of 4 sauces to eat with the oysters. The campground looked decent.

We followed the signs from the Cabot trail. We were on the hunt for oysters. Oh my! We hit the jackpot! They were so fresh and so good. Never thought I would order oysters from a campground store. That in itself is a great story. Thank you for your kindness and great service.

After driving 14 hours from the US, I arrived to the Hide Away Campground! Upon arriving, I walked into the main office and was greeted by the owners, Susan and Alex. After paying for my service space (15a electricity and water), I really wanted something to eat. Good thing they mentioned that had freshly caught oysters and crab! I decided to eat the crab and it was delicious! After lunch, I went to my RV camp site which faced the ocean and of Dingwall (northeast). It was very quiet with a slight cool breeze. My neighbors were quiet and respectful for my entire stay. Also, the restrooms and bathrooms were kept clean. There's so much to do here and the surrounding areas. 2 nights was not enough for me. This location has everything close by: food, gas, trails, beach, and lakes. I will make a return trip here the next time.

I have mixed feelings on our recent stay. Let’s start with the good. The view. Absolutely incredible, 10/10. Probably the reason this campsite still exists. The price. Very reasonably priced. No complaints there. The staff was very friendly, and they seem like they do try to do the best they can!Now the not so good. Me and my wife stayed in a cabin they have to offer. We were told there was a queen sized mattress there, all we needed was bedding. Scratch that, the bed, at least in the cabin we stayed in is reminiscent of a sheet draped over some springs. It’s awful. Hurts to sleep on, makes you ache for days to come. Bring your own mattress pad or inflatable mattress because the provided mattress is not good enough. The bathrooms, I’ve seen some complaints about the coin operated showers. I think I can look past that given the price of the campground. Although I can’t look past the fact one of the bathrooms never had soap in it for the whole time we were there. Also multiple times in the morning there was no toilet paper in one or more bathroom. The wood, for 7$ it’s not enough wood. Keep the price that’s fine, add a couple more pieces. No real need to be that greedy over wood. Guaranteed you could fill the bags and still turn a profit. All in all, it’s still a very worth while place to rent a cabin, or a site just for the view alone. That being said with a couple minor changes you could take a good campground, and make it into a stunning place!

We were touring the Trail on motorcycles, hungry because every single restaurant was closed. We saw a sign advertising a Campground and Oyster Bar so we went in. Very small and plain oyster bar attached to campground. Oysters about $25 per dox. They were shucked while we waited and served with four sauces…lemon juice, Tabasco, a tomato based seafood (delicious) and one other. These were the freshest oysters I have ever eaten anywhere…and I grew up in Cape Breton. I highly recommend if you like oysters. We ate one dozen each they were so good. I forgot to mention the friendly owners.
