My room on the 5th floor had no air conditioner or fan, and the window opening was too small to allow for any air movement. It was a stifling 82 degrees inside despite being a cool night. At no time during the booking via phone was this mentioned and for $200/night, the owners should be ashamed of themselves. On the positive side, front desk staff were great.

Not like the website or pictures. I do not recommend this hotel, especially for a family. Dangerous area. Needs massive updating and better security. Guests across from our room in the same hall had a domestic dispute in the middle of the night, something about drugs, we were very scared as their door kept opening and slamming shut and there was very intense yelling and screening. We didn't sleep. The guests weren't escorted out until almost 5 am by the hotel. We would have left about 11 pm because of it, but were afraid to even leave our room, especially with our young son. It was a terrible Thunder Bay experience.

Good views, good staff, sketchy area of the city and no A/C (my rooms highest temp. was mid 80’s almost reaching 90), rooms are decently nice and comfy beds.

The jacuzzi suite can be worth the price. Although a little dated with decor (wallpaper, carpeting, the curtains that can`t be fully pulled back) it provides a fantastic view of the sleeping giant and marina. The staff is always friendly and I have enjoyed the multitude of stays booked at this hotel. I love the old architecture of the building (modern hotels lack this quality feature) and the doorknobs of the bathrooms always catch my appreciative eye (although i noticed the paint job on the doors needed another coat - my opinion is they would look better as stained wood). My only recommendation to the owner would be to get better couches in the suites, and better quality furniture (there was marring and stains on both and they were of cheap quality) and perhaps update the shower/bathrooms (there is no counter in bathrooms - i appreciate nostalgia but it`s time to fix it up). I`ve been in 2 separate jacuzzi suites and there`s faulty jets in both. A higher quality in the suites would go a long way.

Something is wrong with the hotel. Hotel claims to be a 2 star hotel while it should be a non star motel and guests wouldn't be surprised on what to expect. Before making the reservation، read the bad reviews but thought guests were exaggerating, after all the hotel claims to be a 2 stars hotel so those reviews could not be true in my opinion. Once stayed there, I now believe that whatever guests said about hotel and it's location are true. For the prices, keep in mind that Delta hotel close by is listing $300/night but once there they can charges you up to $400/night. PA hotel list $99/night but can charge up to $165/night if you are there and desperately need a room.I tried to move to other 2stars hotel but they also had bad reviews.

Also a 5th floor room with one super slow elevator, no room a/c, loud people outside so couldn't open a window, parking lot could not accommodate my large truck and trailer so I had to park on the street out front. Too expensive for what it was but it was pet friendly and all others were booked. Staff was great however.

Very old. Sketchy neighbor hood. Building across the street has boarded up windows. Nice view but you have to stand at window to see out. Not worth the price.

Only reason giving one star is the room's view. We could see the Sleeping Giant and Lake Superior - but not all rooms would have this view. Bed bugs, bed bugs, bed bugs, foul smell, poor TV reception, heat didn't work. Would not recommend this dirty outdated hotel.

This was one of the worst hotels we've stayed at. The entire hotel smells like stale cigarettes and people are actively smoking in their rooms. There is shared ventilation so all rooms smell like cigarette smoke throughout the night. We complained to the front desk. They were kind and apologetic, but were unable to do anything, so it didn't amount to anything or help at all, but then again what could they do?Let me reiterate. The staff were friendly and nice but they apparently have zero power in doing anything such as enforcing regular rules and laws.Don't come here, especially if you have asthma or other lung issues. It's unbearable to sleep. Not to mention there are stains all over the carpets, and no door locks on the bathrooms. The rooms are not even arranged properly and is completely awkward. Oh and not to mention the wifi is as spotty as a Leppard with constant disconnects.First and last time I shall stay at this historic" place.Pros: Cheap pricesCons:Death by asphyxiation"

Not quite sure how to write this review. I did not personally stay at this hotel however a family did. The first time she stayed she was greeted with a horrible room that looked like workers had been in there. The sink was black there were boot marks on the carpet and it look like someone had grabbed the sheets and made a run for it. She went to the front desk and there were extremely helpful and upgraded her to a very nice room. So on her return trip I decided to book the same hotel for her. Not such a great experience as they would not accept my credit information even when I requested a form and offered pictures of my license and CC. Even though I had booked a room two weeks prior through Expedia. They would not even consider this option unless I was a business. They were ok for Expedia to take the fall if something were amiss. I was called a liar by the front end desk when he didn't hear me say 2 weeks, rather he heard last night. I spoke to the manager and got no satisfaction there, so I cancelled the reservation and went else where. I was planning to stay here on our trip to the east coast however won't be happening now and that makes me sad.
