Halifax Sport & Social Club

My husband and couple of his friends joined this league and I watched several of their games. One night I witnessed a player getting injured during the game and the staff did not have a first aid kit ( ice pack) !!!! It is very disappointing to see that they simply don’t care enough to take these very basic safety precautions. This is why I do not recommend for people to join this league, find a league that has a referee and a staff who brings first aid kit to every game!!

I have been playing in HSSC soccer leagues for 6 years or so. Lots of fun, good excesize and for the most part great folks. I have never had any issues signing up as an individual, people welcoming and friendly. For less than $10 per game... what more do you want??

A great way to stay active!I highly recommend signing up! Either solo or with some friends.The amazing staff are dedicated to keeping things as smooth and fun as possible and you'll get to meet and play with other fun-minded people.

Here's the real deal. As we get older, our lives get busy, demands places on us, jobs, kids, relationships, bills. This is a great escape for adults who want to have a recess, a break, run around and be a kid again. Great way to get active and not even realize it. Meet new people and plain and simply have fun

Update 13Mar23:HSSC has been heading downhill for basketball for a couple of years. They charge as much as leagues with refs and scorekeepers, but there's no refs and mostly no score keepers. They started running on Mondays and Tuesdays when most seemed to like Thursdays. During Covid you could give them the benefit of the doubt but now they have no excuses for running such a poor program.Original 5 star review:They run good leagues and an inclusive environment. They have always been fair about providing credits and adapting to Covid closures. There have been a few occasions where we have no one to keep score but most of the time they send a game coordinator.

I've curled and played softball with HSSC and have had great experiences! I've made new friends through the club and enjoy their social events too. They offer so many sports! We are lucky to have this organization in Halifax, it's a privilege that not many cities in Canada have!

I don't recommend this league at all.One of my players got injured this week because this person served really hard on her and kept doing it even after everyone called it. I emailed HSSC about the incident and they said that serving hard and aiming at specific players is a valid strategy". I have the email exchange to prove it.It's intermediate not even comp

Such an unprofessional running organization. They arrange the games at most inconvenient places and they never send their staff to the places. We had to set the rims, the games get cancelled and nobody let us know and we had to drive all the way after work for nothing.Finally tonight we got kicked out by a cranky janitor from the gym while we were playing a game because we were late by 5 minutes( due to the game finished late before our game) . If I were you I would be looking for another league. HSCC been a big disappointment for me.

Great organization! Good experience playing sports through their club for over 10 years. Great way to get some exercise and have fun!
