To be honest, the school is not the worst. Some of the teachers are really cool, and I’ve made some amazing memories at this school .On the negative side, the kids are honestly so rude. I remember some girls would literally glare at me in the bathroom for no reason. I didn’t even talk to them so there was no reason for them to do so. Another thing is that a lot of the students there have this “hierarchy” where, depending on your looks and social status, they will treat you a certain way. If you’re short, chances are that you’ll be looked down upon. Also, there is TONS of drama and everyone talks behind everyone’s back. With the Ukrainian program, it could be better. I haven’t learned much but it’s enough to keep the culture and some language components going. Just not for speaking fluent ukrainian. In conclusion, the education itself is not bad, I have learned a lot and it’s useful for me in high school However, the learning environment is not that pleasant.

Very good school with the highest level of education. The latest principal Mr. Dmytrasz has a lot of wisdom. Teachers are awesome. I don't hesitate to send my kids to this school. The only problem is Peel public health mandating a lot of bad regulations that the school has to follow during this covid time. A lot of their regulations are not scientifically backed, thus making no sense at all.

I have had absolutely no issues with the school. Was very well informed with everything that went on. Teacher is extremely nice and professional. Christmas, mother's day, shevchenko concerts, etc. All events were well organized. principal is a friendly professional man. Updated, clean and amazingly kept up school. All the reviews chose to focus on the one bad incident or do not explain what they had problems with.

I went to this school ever since I joined in 2nd grade. It’s definitely a huge elementary memory for me, and I will always remember this school for all the good times I’ve had. When I 1st joined back in 2015 I did not know English very well, but the fact that a lot of teachers here understand even a bit of Ukrainian and some even polish helped me with what I wanted to say a LOT. Just 1 grade after I joined, in gr. 3, I spoke better English than my parents at the time. I definitely learned a lot over the past years and will miss all the friends I made here. The teachers are honestly so amazing, and understand the need for quality education. But, the only problems are regarding the students here.. the thing is some especially approaching intermediate create this complex hierarchy that grows every year among themselves, thinking they are better and more superior then others. Therefore this hierarchy increases the vulnerability for bullying, but usually only in rare cases. Some students just like at any other schools make extremely not smart decisions and end up causing a lot of drama which gets more severe every year. Thankfully I’ve never been in any sort of these bad situations, but I know some people who have. I kind of feel bad for the teachers that had to deal with this, especially the amazing principal of this school.I’d also like to point out since the school is mostly made up of Ukrainian/Polish heritage, the other cultures of the world aren’t very accepted among the students. I’ve heard a ton of extremely unwelcoming things about specific cultures and communities.. and this is very ignorant to me because of the fact that Canada especially the Toronto area is very diverse with lots of different cultures and communities.Basically, the students here are great friends to have and create strong bonds with eachother, but a decent chunk of them are not very bright. The recent war in Ukraine has sparked a lot of patriotism into the school and the current principal has done a VERY great job at welcoming the refugees with tons of supplies and very good educations.Regarding special events and trips, the school has a LOT. For younger grades, the Mykolai (St Nicholas) event brings each student a gift just before Christmas break. Taras Sevchenko concerts are handled by the stunning Ukrainian department and always turn out amazing. Molebens (Catholic Services) are common, and pre covid I remember travelling to St. Mary’s Ukrainian church for more high quality catholic services. Also pre covid, I remember going to museums, science and other educational facilities, as well as sponsored events being held in the gymnasium of the school. The teachers try their best to create a perfect and welcoming environment for all students each year no matter what situation they are in. This is why, I had the best childhood of my dreams at St. Sofia. I will never forget, the memories, and friends I made here. The basic needs + special events at St. Sofia including the quality of education and staffing is absolutely going to be a strong five star.
