LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services

Prior to my appointment, I called Life Labs and spoke with a male who was unbelievably unpleasant, unhelpful, and provided inaccurate information. However, the service at the lab itself was excellent. My employer had booked the appointment at a really inconvenient time, I was anxious and irritable about my day, and unfortunately wasn't hydrated sufficiently to provide an adequate urine specimen for the test that needed to be done. Not a great patient to deal with. The tech who assisted me (Shae) was very patient, efficient, and professional to a fault throughout the encounter. I also noticed, and was impressed by, the coordination and teamwork that was going on between the staff in general to ensure that everyone else was treated with a comparable quality of care. Loved the electronic wait queue up on the wall as well.

Tried to go get my blood work but you need an appointment now to come do your blood work or any testing. I wasn’t told this. Fact that we’re coming to a high risk place is awful enough now I and other people who didn’t book an appointment gotta come back again? Very disappointed.

i take my Mom there frequently. Fortunately, im able to book appointment on line. We've never waited more than 5 minutes.On another note, my husband had a scheduled echo. Never had one before, so didnt know what to expect. had a very, non communicative attendant, who when echo completed, grabbed ALL lines together, and yanked them off at one time. not impressed! sent an email to HO. never did get a response back. this incident was very unimpressive.

Terible expirence, service is out the window with this place. 100% gone down hill, needs to be purged with new staff who actually care and help people. spent 25 minutes waiting just to be told, that because the nurse practitioner accidently wrote 2018 instead of 2022 that they can't do blood work, then forced us to call them to straighten it out. THEN! they refused to send a copy to the midwives we have. the mind set of not my problem is way to prominent at this place. 100% would rather drive to Winnipeg than deal with these joke of health care providers. there is a reason this place has 2 and a half stars.

**Update: the Customer service manager for Thunder Bay called me and was very apologetic. She was extremely professional and she explained the steps that are being taken to prevent this problem in the future. Really impressed with the way this was handled from a feedback/customer service standpoint!Lifelabs told me at the time of my appointment that they did not receive the requisition my doctor’s office sent, and asked me to call the office to have them resend it. When I spoke with my doctor’s office they confirmed that they had sent the requisition 2 weeks prior, and they sent it for a second time while I waited. I heard the same thing happen to two other patients while I was on hold with my doctor’s office. It is now one hour after my scheduled appointment time at Lifelabs, and I still have not gotten my blood taken due to their mistake. Clearly their system for receiving and filing requisitions needs to be evaluated and improved.

The lifelab at the Spence Clinic building is the cleanest in the city. The employees are always kind and respectful.

The wait time for booked appointments were 50 mins late. The staff was unfriendly and incompetent. The location exceeded it's own capacity limit(probably because they were so slow). Most staff decided to say rude things and talk about patients after they left. I cant imagine a worse run location.

i legit wont go anywhere else for blood work.these girls care about how you feel and do there best to work with you. 5 star all the way.

Horrible experience. I checked in with an estimated wait time for walk-ins at 22 minutes. I paid for an hour and a half parking to be sure to get through the process. I left frustrated, without an appointment and a parking ticket. The problem was as I found out that they do not honor the estimated walk-in. They keep putting walk into the back of the line. Had I known this I would not have gotten a ticket and wasted my day. I got curious and finally asked the front desk when I heard them say we do not put times on the walking sheet to each other. Covid has made everything hard on everybody. But this is not what happened here. There was almost no turnover in the time I was there.

They try to make it a good place, but the environment leaves much for improvement. There are cheap seats to wait in where you can hear everything that is being said by the patient checking in with reception. The washrooms are not maintained throughout the day and I chose to use the public washroom by the elevator because that one is serviced by the building staff throughout the day. They have stopped asking if I'd like to get my results online. Posters on walls are often torn and curling. Signage for where to put samples is confusing. While waiting I saw several people look confused about where to leave their urine sample.
