Paisley's The Wee British Shoppe

I recently moved to Bowmanville and was so happy to find this British shoppe right in town. I have elderly British parents who live in Weston ON & there are products that they have hard time finding these days. I have been able to find every favourite food or item in the Wee British Shoppe that they have asked me to find for them. They are so pleased. This is a quaint shop chock full of items. Love it.

I try to visit this little shop a few times a year. It is filled with British package goods...pickles, sauces, chocolate, teas, cookies, biscuits, drinks, candy, candy, and candy. It also has a variety of British consumer goods such as authentic Brown Betty teapots, flags, caps, scarfs, etc. It also has a wide selection of fresh baked British sweet and savory pastry items...all fresh and all tasty. A visit here is as much fun as visiting any other nationality deli...an opportunity to try different items and tastes from another culture albeit British. The owners and staff are friendly, patient and helpful. Parking is available on the street. Bowmanville is a pretty drive (use Highway 2) about an hour from Toronto,. A visit here is always a must to stock up on stocking stuffers and specially gifts for Christmas.

I have been remiss in not giving this lovely shop a 5 star review. I used to live right around the corner from the shop, was in buying pastries all the time. I now live in Oshawa, but try to drive out at least once a month. I am English and love the Bakewell Tarts, Empire Biscuits, my addiction. Also must note the price of baked items is very reasonable compared to other similar shops, so that is a bonus.

Not that impressed… lots of out dated stuff.. the custard tart was more pastry than custard.. custard was 1/8 inch deep and hard… bought scrunching.. and they were 7 months out of date and still top dollar. Pretty sad really…I prefer the Wee Tartan shop.. everything is fresh there and they pull all the expired things. I wish I could post a pic of the custard tart.. it clearly was old

I love this place they always wear a smile and very helpful and sweet staff. I get my sausage and scones here every christmas and new yearsThey have a great selection of pastries and pies lots to look at and buy. A wee bit of Scotland in the heart of bowmanville ❤️

Unlike the King's Cross, I was treated with way better respect here. Food was fresh and nothing was expired. I had a wide variety of options to choose from, I didn't feel rushed, I had help when I needed it, and the staff was happy to be working there. I would love to give 5 stars, but I haven't attended this shop enough yet to make sure this level of standard is constant, but if, after going a few more times, I find it it, I'll be happy to upgrade my review to 5 stars.

This shop is fantastic. Not only do they have the best product and the best bakery supplier but the level of customer service is fantastic. They have been a light during the darkest days of 2020. Always ready to provide a smiling face and a safe shopping environment. I drive from Pickering to Bowmanville just to shop from them. Best baked british goods outside of the UK. It's worth the drive every time.

I ordered 24 Empire cookies via the shop's website yesterday after the shop was closed and these delicious cookies were delivered to me in Oshawa by lunch time today! Best Empire cookies ever!

Friendly staff and good selection of dry goods and confectioneries. The Cornish pastie gave me the worst indigestion and gas I have ever experienced.
