The car I booked for Christmas a month ago was just in a collision, and of course because it’s so close to Christmas there are zero cars available anywhere. Any decent company would have a contingency plan for when this happens, but I guess my Mom will have to spend Christmas alone now! Thanks Communauto!

I would give 0 if I could. Theseus company is a crook. They make it intentionally difficult to cancel a plan, can’t get a hold of service rep on the phone.

Important: I realized these reviews represent experiences all over Ontario. I’ve been using this service for a month with no issues in Ottawa. Living downtown, I’ve had no trouble getting a car last minute. Weekends do seem to be booked more, but that’s the only drawback I’ve encountered.

This review is specific for Hamilton Communauto - 1. Already Hamilton (75KM) is given less mileage as compared to Toronto (150KM), which is not fair I think. 2. Secondly, it seems that all the cars with some or the other issue are sent over to Hamilton. For the last 1 month or so, I have been getting cars with GPS issues or some other issue which doesn't allow me close the trip and I always have to call them to adjust the bill. 3. Now coming to the customer care - they don't respond outside of business hours, so if you are stuck somewhere in their car - good luck. And even within business hours, you will have to wait several minutes, if not hours before you can speak to someone.Come on CA - you have such a great idea and business model. Don't ruin it or some new competitor will definitely beat you in your own game. Uber has already started renting model.. just FYI

Great local car sharing company. Been using Vrtucar for a few months and it’s been a convenient way to have access to a car when needed but not being tied down to the ongoing car ownership costs. Using a service like this means no more car payments, insurance, gas and maintenance costs. Only pay a monthly membership fee and time and Kms. Recommend booking in advance if possible, especially for weekends and summer months when cars at most stations are in peak demand. Friendly customer service and there are some newer cars spread throughout the city. Vehicle choices depending on location range from Corolla, Yaris, Prius, RAV4, Volt and cargo vans.

They’ve arbitrarily stolen $250 of my money and so far are refusing to give it back. Customer service will tell you the subscription works one way and then do something the complete opposite. Customer service is an absolute joke. Not a good company to deal with

It's okay but the app doesn't work so I can't cancel my booking for tomorrow. This regular problem with the app. Nobody looks after the regular maintenance so you'd better learn how. Car often has garbage in it. You've gotta pre-book or you'll never have the car available when you need it. Sucks for last minute things. It'll have to do because I have no other option.

6 yr member-on verge of leaving. Can’t book 3 cars in 2 blocksfor dentist appt 2 weeks, 2 hrs!they are allowing new members to book cars 2-4 weeks solid during entire month. Been reporting for 2 months. Offering NO solution..only open membership..basically no help. Don’t care about 6+ year member leaving, having to buy second car again, leaving pollution as my legacy for my kids

Communauto Ottawa: Filthy old cars and the gas card provided does not work (meaning you have to pay out of pocket and hope for reimbursement). I’m glad I did not pay for an annual membership as I will not be using this service again.

Up until last month, I had been using Communauto for a period of just over 2 years when it was not financially possible to get a car but I still needed occasional access to a vehicle. Over those two years I always had good experiences with customer service reps on occasions when I need help, for example locking my phone in a car or needing help ending a trip when the usb wasn't working. All that said, I've recently had to purchase my own vehicle and it's not very new or fancy, but I'm not sure the company is doing what it's claims to be doing when rates have gotten high enough that I really don't feel like I'm paying that much more a month now that I have my own vehicle.In addition, it seems like there is quite a bit more demand for cars now as it became increasingly difficult over the summer to access a car on weekends without booking at least a week in advance. Wait times to get through to an agent feel like they have gotten longer as well.My main piece of advice if you are going to sign up for the service is to do your due diligence and READ everything. A lot of other reviews mention recurring charges even months after customers have cancelled their service. Part of the model requires customers to lock into year long terms, but I'm dubious about how clearly communicated these financial commitments are.
