Discover the Past

We took the History Tour and it was absolutely fantastic! Chris is full of knowledge and fun facts about Victoria and Vancouver Island. He is a fantastic story teller and really opened our eyes to the history of the area. One of the better walking tours that we've experienced! Also, great to know it's a small family business.

Had a fantastic time with our guide Chris. The Ghosts Of Christmas Past tour is delightfully creepy and festive and I learned a lot of Victoria history I hadn't heard before. Would come back and take another tour next time I'm here.

My gorgeos love and I took this Ghost tour in August 2021, Brynne was our guide and she was great! We had a spooky time on a creepy night and learned much of Victoria's haunted sites. Can't wait to go back for Xmas. Thanks so much Brynne! (PS: tip your tour guide people!!!!)FOLLOW UP:We just returned from Victoria in the cold snow and once again took in a walking tour with Discover the Past... this time a Christmas Ghost tour with Chris on what was the coldest day I've ever been on Van Island for, boxing day... something like -10 but felt like -20.The tour itself was similar to the August tour we had with Brynne, with a few of the initial stories overlapping from our first experience but some neat Christmas ones through the middle of the tour.As with the first tour we stayed back with Chris and were treated to a great story about the B&B we were staying in up the road on Fort Street.Again, great experience and if you want to learn history about Victoria there's no better way to do it than with Discover the Past.

We took the Victoria's History and the China Town Tour. Both tours were amazing! It's obvious that John and Chris are passionate about history and storytelling and we also loved how this is a family entreprise. 100% recommend!

We took the Chinatown Walks tour with Mr John Anderson and it was absolutely exceptional! I feel really lucky to have been able to learn from him about the history of Chinese in Victoria in general and the Victoria Chinatown in particular . His knowledge of the topic is absolutely amazing. The tour was excellent and very enjoyable. We started by learning about the history of Chinese coming to Victoria, about various proeminent names, about the Chinese temple, the various key places in Victoria Chinatown, and more and more.... I've taken many tours, and this one is really outstanding! Highly recommended! My teenager son and his French exchange student liked it too!

My family and I went on a tour with Brynne tonight and she was absolutely fabulous! A very great story teller with many spooky tales to share. She kept the attention of our young children the entire time. 100% highly recommend going on this tour.

I have always loved the ghost walk tours, and I was thrilled to bring my partner and friend for their first times. We had a blast! Every tour I've gone on has different stories, but the professionalism and theatrics are always spot on. I would highly recommend these tours to anyone curious about Victoria's very dark history. It is a great value for all of the stories you get, and you're going to be talking about it for ages afterwards.

Our historical walking tour of Victoria was excellent as we were kept fully engaged for the whole 90 minutes with interesting stories and historical events most of which were new to us.Aiden was a fantastic guide and was clearly extremely knowledgeable about his subject.Would highly recommend!!

Really enjoyed the stories. An hour was just enough time and the walk isn’t that far but you get about 5 entertaining stories in the tour

Enjoyed the tour so much! It was completely out of the box in our itinerary but it was one of the best. We toured around Victoria Downtown while learning a bit about some scary histories around the area. Super cool!
