Common Loaf Bake Shop

Very disappointing experience. We came here twice and unfortunately two days in a row witnessed staff being rude to a couple who clearly didn’t speak very good English and a second time to ourselves when we elected to eat our food on the patio in takeout containers. The reason we asked for takeout vs plates (as we had on the first day) is the portion is large and we knew we wouldn’t finish the whole plate before needing it packed up so in effort to conserve some dishes as well as not interrupt the busy staff to ask for a box, we got it packed up from the get go. Apparently this is an issue as the staff member Lee was extremely vocal about us eating takeout at the table (we paid the same money with a generous tip so I’m unsure why it matters where we eat, especially given that we know we need the takeout container in the end?)…he very loudly and rudely made it known that he didn’t want us eating from takeout. This is the same man who the day before was so rude to the tourist who struggled to understand English. We explained our reasoning to him for ordering in boxes and he was again, super rude to our faces for legitimately no reason. To be honest, it was a little shocking how rude he was over something so simple.We asked for the managers number who didn’t as much as say I’m sorry for your experience once but instead, highlighted the issue that they wanted to reduce garbage waste. Maybe the solution is I bring my own Tupperware because as we stated many times, I’m not able to finish a whole portion…A sincere apology for the way Lee spoke to us would have been appreciated.A gave this 2 stars simply because the bread was good, the eggs and the staff however, were not and we will not be returning or recommending. Really awful to see how they treat tourists, especially non-English native ones.

Baked goods aren’t tasty, tiny chocolate raspberry muffin was super dry and didn’t have much flavour my favourite part of the muffin was the chocolate chips.. cinnamon bun was super dry and didn’t even taste like cinnamon maybe they forgot it? I do not know. The staff was not the nicest and they do not have a good selection of tea. If you want good baked items head down to the Zed hotel.

Our first visit to Tofino and we noticed this place and decided to try it out. Coffee was great and OMG the breakfast sandwich was large and delicious, potatoes were amazing. The service was great love the energy. Cash only not a problem as a business owner I know the costs of having a credit/debit terminal. I would highly recommend this place, my only regret is it isn't closer to my small town in Ontario. Great job, keep up what you are doing it's awesome

Great visit at a wonderfully eclectic coffee shop. The coffee was full bodied and rich, and the croissant was out of this world. Not only was the food good, but the service was phenomenal and the atmosphere was laid back. Highly recommend if you are in Tofino

Recently attended this bakery for lunch. Facility located right downtown near the busy streets. Free parking located right in front on the side of the street.I ordered two sandwiches and treats which was great! Price was fair.Highly recommended!

I hate leaving bad reviews… I really do.Cash only - people seldom use cash anymore, especially since the COVID pandemic began.Food - ordered the sausage breakfast wrap with side potatoes. The potatoes were still hard and had zero flavour. The eggs were watery. The spinach had not wilted yet so was very difficult to bite and chew.I’m also surprised by the undercooked and cold potatoes because the food took about 10/15 minutes to cook.

The loaf is so essential for local artists, humans and the classic Tofino experience which has been highly gentrified in the past couple years. Lee and Mo are always a treat to run into and are passionate active members of the community. The food is bomb and they will always have a vegan/veggie option for you. The peasant bread will change your world!

This very warm and welcoming bakery is our go to destination every time we are in Tofino..the wide variety of baked goods and such quality bread..it’s amazing that each bakery item is so unique and delicious..

Cash only. Good spot to grab a bite in the morning before whale watching or hot springs cove, you can that way have a tip for your tour guide. Circular croissants looks alright but didn’t get to try. Got a spicy sandwich for lunch but it wasn’t that spicy, ok w me but my boyfriend likes spice.
