Beef tartare - probably the best I've tried in Toronto. The generous amount of chives and golden egg yolk, with a touch ofhabanero and jalapeno sauce, and the small, pretty evenly diced beef was enjoyable. Texturally too, which is usually a problem for me. 5/5Cabbage and mussels - a bit cheesy and creamy; everything went well together. 5/5Squash vol au vent - not my favorite dish. It was on the sweet side, while I prefer a savory filling. 3/5Chicken ballontine - smooth, fatty skin was good; the stuffing was monotone flavour-wise; the chicken leg was a bit dry. Tasty sauce. 3.5/5Beef bourguignon - the meat is so tender. It fell off the bone. Rich flavor and very delicious! 5/5Oysters - fine; accompanied by horseradish, hot sauce, lemon juice, vinegar, ... 4/5Service - 4/5 - attentive; I dropped my serviette on the floor, and a waitress was quick to offer me a new one. Plate clearing was pretty fast. Did feel a bit rushed closer to the end, but I understand there's a 2 hour dining window.Charming interior with wooden accents.Would like to try the Roasted Pear Salad and Steelhead Trout upon a return.

We sat at the bar and had the most wonderful evening. Jacob and Steven were so attentive, welcoming, charming and made the best cocktails. The atmosphere was buzzing and the aesthetic is really pretty. Such cute plates!Fries are a must, as is the short rib and tartare. Beware of the spicy fermented something on the side.Love that they moved to this neighbourhood, will be back a million times over.

What an excellent visit to Chantecler. The service from door to table was warm and knowledgeable. We went with 4 small plates and 2 mains between the two of us, and each dish was so well made and delicious. Well curated wine list with some real gems in the by the glass options. Highest recommendations.

I've been a huge fan of Chantecler for years and years. I'm really glad that they're still going strong. Food is good as ever, service friendly and accommodating as always.

Was so excited to try Chantecler after being such a Le Phenix fan and this place blew me away (as expected). The interior is so gorgeous, lots of light, and the bar is just beautiful. The vibe was so nice and the staff working were beyond friendly and accommodating. As someone with a sensitive tummy to garlic, they were so on point with my needs. The food was phenomenal and my absolute favourites were the steak tartare and the little onion soup! I can’t wait to come back and eat my way through the whole menu! 1000/10!

Had a great dinner for 6 here last night. Service was excellent, huge compliments to the bar team (cocktails were on par with many of the great cocktail bars in Toronto), and every plate served was honestly executed perfectly. Stand outs were the brioche, beef tartare, cabbage/mussels, fries, beef bourguignon, mushrooms, butter beans and duck. My only small criticism is that it gets a bit loud and makes it hard to talk to anyone not directly beside you due to how busy and successful the place is. Would definitely return.

Elegant yet still passably casual spot for French dining with bar and table seating. Food-wise, every single dish we ordered was delicious, truly. My personal favorites were the Half Duck (simply amazing and so well executed) and the Seared Cabbage & Mussels. That said, I would recommend trying the Duck Liver Mousse as well if you're up for something different — it's got quite the unique combination of sweet vs savoury. Service-wise, the staff was extremely friendly from start to finish. In terms of seating, would recommend ideally for groups of 2-4 people to maximize reservation booking availabilities. Overall, a solid experience and definitely a strong recommend.

After the 2019 burndown, Chantecler is re-established now in April 2023. Welcome back! This place is located at the corner of the street with nice windows across the entire front and sides. Small little place but the dim lit resto provided an intimate and cozy ambience. Perfect for a date night! There are high stools along the bar area with small tables along the windows. There are a good variety of cocktails options, but we opted for my craft beer and she opted for her red wine options. The food menu basically breaks down into small plates" and "large plates". We decided to order a few dishes of small plates as we luv to try many dishes.1) Potato & Caviar2) Seared Foie Gras3) Beef Tartare4) Trout CrudoPS - We also appreciate the fact that our server knew we wanted to order 4 small plates to share but preferred the dishes to come out in a reasonable pace and not everything comes out at once
