The West Arm Lodge and Restaurant

Just spent an amazing week at The West Arm Lodge and Restaurant. The property is absolutely beautiful and waking up each morning and looking out at the lake was breathtaking. The owners who took over almost a year ago are friendly, accommodating and came by regularly to make sure we had everything we needed and if there was anything they could do to make our stay more enjoyable.Our cottage was perfect, exceptionally clean, totally self-contained and come with everything you need for a getaway. They have canoes and a kayak you can borrow, a net where you can play volleyball or badminton, a basketball net, soccer ball, football or just sit lakeside and relax.We didn’t bring lunch and dinner food so we could order from the restaurant we’ve read so much about. The reviews did not disappoint, from the pizza, to the burgers and pastas everything was incredible. You can tell that Chef Matt puts a lot of love into his scratch-made creations.The new owners have done a lot since they took over a year ago. You see the care they have for the property and the guests and are always outside cleaning up and doing repairs.They come by daily to ensure that you are enjoying your stay or if you need anything. If you need something just ask, if they don’t have it they usually can get it for you.This is somewhere we’d totally recommend going to as a couple or with your family. We went as a group yesterday to celebrate my husbands birthday and to say goodbye to a small group of our campers who have become our good friends over the past 15 yrs. They have being coming here over the summer months and have raved about the food so we finally were able to come and are we ever happy we did. Tammy, her husband and son (the Chef) were amazing from start to finish. The view is amazing looking out onto the West Arm waterway, cottages, boats, docks all in great condition. I ordered the Chicken Parm & Frank ordered the 8oz burger with fries, so delicious. Huge portions, cooked to perfection and all made from scratch with fresh ingredients. Had a great time with our friends and didn’t want to leave, congratulations to the new owners you are doing an amazing job, keep up the great work you will do so well. If anyone eats here and isn’t happy with the food, then you don’t know what great food tastes like and should stick with MacDonald’s, it’s more than a 5 star meal. We will definitely be back next summer.

Awesome place to get away! New owners Tammi and Dave are the nicest people and went above and beyond to make sure our stay went great. Stopped by almost every day to see if we needed anything and even hung out with us one night with their son Matt, who is an amazing chef that provides portions that took me 3 days to eat lol. They are working on fixing up the things that the previous owners let go and considering it's only been 2 years plus stupid covid they are doing a great job. Will be back next year for sure. Best vacation ever!!

My boyfriend, our puppy and I spent 3 nights at The West Arm Lodge and it was such a great and relaxing weekend! Every cottage has its own dock and the water was BEAUTIFUL to swim in. All the staff members are extremely friendly and informative about the area. If you go (which you should!) you absolutely MUST eat at or order takeout from Chef Matt in the kitchen. I got the Chicken Parm and it was amazing and my boyfriend got the Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich and said it was the best one he’s ever had! This was my second summer staying there and it’s safe to say it will be our little family’s spot to go every summer! Thanks so so much to the White family for the hospitality!!

I booked two cottages for 5 days and we had two other families book an additional two cabins so that we could all be together. I came from out of province to enjoy the pristine and breathtaking views and tranquility that I knew from growing up nearby as a young child. I cannot stress enough how incredibly disappointed I was on the accommodations, and when I addressed the issues with the owners, their only comments back were that the cabins had been cleaned prior to our arrival. Horrendously dirty and sticky floors greeted us upon arrival and the list only gets worse. The musty smells in the cabins, and the stench from the septic system had us end our trip short by two days. Every day in the cabin turned my stomach. I could not cook in the cabin due to the smells and unsanitary kitchen ware provided with the cabin, the drawers with the cutlery were disgustingly dirty, the wine bottle opener had mold growing on it, there was black mold on the fridge, the curtains in the bedroom were haphazardly hung, and although the views out of the floor to ceiling windows could be spectacular, you first had to look through the cobwebs, dead bugs, and smeared windows to see out. It was much better to simply go out on the dock and sit there. Apparently I was in the deluxe cabin, but I am still baffled as to what was meant by 'deluxe'. I would not come back to this place under the current management. It was expensive for what we got, and I have never been more anxious to leave a holiday, and to leave early at that.

The West Arm Lodge is a beautiful property with amazing hosts. It is a perfect place to get away from the city, right on the water and in the midst of gorgeous natural surroundings.The cabins are very spacious and well equipped, very clean and the view on the water when you wake up is unbeatable.The hosts are very friendly and accommodating, really kind and positive!!They have boats available for fishing in the summer which is great for an activity amongst friends and family.Finally - the restaurant was also amazing!! We got some burgers and pizza and we were not disappointed! The pizzas are huge and so delicious, especially the sauce.. it has something special!I wish I could give more than 5 stars - it was such a great time!!Thank you Tammi Dave and everyone else at the West Arm Lodge for having us and making it an amazing experience.

We recently spent a week at West Arm Lodge. We were so pleased to discover this lodge about ten years ago and always loved it, staying every summer, so we were disappointed that the owners Frank and Cathy had decided to sell it. They were always so welcoming, and always busy keeping things running smoothly. But we decided to go back, hoping the new owners would keep it to the high standards we had come to expect. Unfortunately, it was not to be. Our cabin was dirty, smelly and ill equipped. Not welcoming at all. The bed in one room had been replaced by a huge old king-sized bed, supported by cement blocks. It was so high that it was difficult to get in and out of it. The beds in the second bedroom were sporting bare mattresses! Not very homey. A sign indicated our garbage would be picked up daily. Not done. Another sign told us to disinfect all the handles and doorknobs in the cabin, something that surely should have been done for us before our arrival. And no disinfectant was provided. Our rental boat was another disappointment. The covering on the seats had worn away, so the sponge cushioning was exposed, and it was soaking wet. The owner did not seem to have any interest in, or knowledge of, the boats. Although the new owners seem like nice people, although we hardly saw them, they are much more interested in selling $30 take-out pizzas on a Friday than they are in people spending $2500 to stay for a week. They don’t seem to know what people are looking for in a fishing lodge and perhaps should have invested in a restaurant for their son, rather than a lodge, as the restaurant is their prime interest. The whole place just had a sad, run-down, deserted feeling. We will not be back.

Lovely location, lots of activities that's easily accessible. A bit too much shrubbery around the cottages that encourages the huge amounts of mosquitoes... actual cottages needs a bit more cleaning and sprucing up. Price advertised are for 2 only although the site says sleeps 4 etc. and you pay extra even for small kids.Owners are very accommodating and easy going.

Just fantastic. We have gotten to know the new owners of the lodge Dave and Tammi this past year and can’t say enough about how they make it a great place. The cottages are adorable and on some incredible water. Prime walleye, pike and Musky fishing - lots of them off the docks and miles of pristine boating. The restaurant is lovely and food was amazing- we had the burger and Philly cheese steak wrap way to go Chef Matt. It was homemade and one of the best burgers we have ever had- you won’t go hungry!!! They are doing a bunch of cabin upgrades too! Dave and Tammi are great! Highly recommend this lodge for a comfortable rustic northern experience.

A few days of relaxation was what we searched for, and that's what we got! I loved swimming in the lake. The food was excellent, with very generous portions. I love a good home cooked meal and Chef Matt did not disappoint. Thanks Dave and Tammi for a nice break.
