I bought my bass here, and it has served me well for years! Whenever I need repairs of any sort, I bring my bass here. My instrument always comes back as good as new.

Was looking for a violin to purchase as a gift, so I checked this place out due to the positive reviews - and they are absolutely deserved. Ian was very nice and polite, letting me try out his cool old and new European/American/Chinese violins for a few hours, dropping neat history about them, and without any sort of pressure to buy anything. Ended up purchasing a co-signed, cool old handmade violin at a reasonable price, which Ian generously partially restored.They are experienced, knowledgeable, welcoming, and kind, and you should absolutely visit their shop. If I ever make time to pick up the violin again, I know where to go.Thanks for the violin, I hope it stays in the family forever :)

Ian was pleasant and professional. Replaced my violin strings and some adjustments for a fair price. After finishing and when I was about to leave, he noticed the little velcro bit on my violin case was falling apart, and he quickly glued it back together for me! Overall would definitely recommend this place, wish I found it sooner

I purchased an 1880’s cello at a charity fundraiser. It had lived a hard life. I contacted a number of luthiers in the area, and they all said it would cost more than the instrument is worth, to fix it. Then I came upon Ian. From photos, he figured it could be done at a reasonable cost. I brought it in and he confirmed he could do it for the estimated price. Then, due to unexpected circumstances, I had to have it completed very quickly. And Ian delivered. There were a few drops of glue that got onto the varnish and came off after I got home, taking the varnish with them, but I will add that up to him rushing the job at my request, to meet my schedule. And he provided me with some varnish to take home, so I could try to touch up some spots that would have taken him a lot longer to restore. In the end, I ended up with a very old cello that sounds great, and still has value in it, where other luthiers had told me to throw it out and buy a new one. (Or luthiers who offered to buy it from me for what I paid, if I’d buy a replacement from them.) All in all, I’m very satisfied with the result. And Ian is very accommodating and easy to talk to.

Ian was super helpful from the beginning of the our communication. He is very friendly, professional and knowledgeable with the violins and bows. We were given time to try out the instruments and he was kind enough to add peg compounds and parchment paper for the new violin. We really appreciate everything. Thank you so much Ian! Andrew is humble, professional, skillful and patient! He helps me fix 5 cracks by carbon fiber band on my set of clarinets made by uebel in 1980s. The work such as key alignment and adjustment make my clarinets better than ever!
