Mr. Ian Garrett is a wonderful vocal coach - both knowledgeable and approachable. His method of training has helped me to improve my vocal range and my voice quality. He is very professional and goes out of his way to guide me towards genuine opportunities to showcase my talents. He is very accomodative of my erratic work schedule. I highly recommend getting trained by Mr. Ian Garrett at the CANADIAN ACADEMY OF VOCAL MUSIC.

Fantastic! My daughter Sophie has been taking lessons for several years at the Canadian Academy of Vocal Music. Mr.Garrett has been a remarkable vocal teacher. Mr.Garrett has tried to help my daughter flourish as a singer always guiding her with the correct techniques, breathing to sustain her voice and to follow proper dynamics to make the songs sound more professional.Sophie really looks up to Mr.Garrett. She values and appreciates his vocal and piano abilities. He has accompanied her to several competitions where she has placed first. She is learning more and more with each and every lesson.Thank you Mr.Garrett for your passion and dedication to music and for helping my daughter develop as an artist.

I was searching for a vocal coach for quite a while before running into Ian Garett,I researched and found Canadian Academy of Vocal Music, I have been a student for over 9 months and it's been a wonderful experienceBefore I became a student at Canadian Academy of vocal music, I was always yearning to be able to sing in a higher note, thanks to Ian with his instructions on breathing techniques, and teaching styles, I am now able to hit a higher vocal range with self-assurance.Ian has a true gift and eagerness to bring out the best in others.

Having had a number of vocal coaches throughout my time as a vocalist, Ian is definitely the best. His wealth of knowledge, both musically and about the industry, are unmatched. He is professional and dedicated to his students ongoing success. I sing on stage often in my line of work, and I owe my vocal control to Ian Garratt

I do not recommend this school for the following reasons: 1. Value for money is not there: we paid $119 for half an hour sessions and we were locked in a 30 session deal that was mostly paid in advance, so we didn’t really have an option to opt out. I have looked at many other schools since then and this is by far the most expensive one in Toronto. I take responsibility for not doing more research in advance, but still can’t help the feeling of having grossly overpaid for a service that didn’t deliver. 2. Virtual sessions were generally a nightmare, with bad internet connection, bad sound and old technology without much troubleshooting skills. 3. While Mr Garett is a kind person and my daughter enjoyed the sessions, there wasn’t really any focus on building skills and coaching, sessions were a combination of scales and karaoke songs my daughter would prepare during the week without much feedback beyond “good job” or “this one needs some work”. If you do decide to take lessons here, make sure you communicate clearly your expectations, when the first and the last lessons are, and align clearly on payment.

Ian was a pleasure to work with and I happily paid his $100 vocal assessment fee, but his assistant (whatever her name is) reacted very rudely and aggressively when I told her that I decided to go with a different instructor who works at the Ontario Conservatory of Music instead.She insulted both their competitor and myself by making comments like, Ian has been teaching music longer than you've been alive

I had a terrible experience at this place. Would not recommend this academy to anyone. They practical swindled $100 out of me. An ounce of honesty would have been greatly appreciated.All I wanted to know was the class rates for a beginner and the receptionist insisted I visit them in person to discuss. When I visited the location, they wanted to hear the candidate (my daughter) sing to rate her vocal level, so, they can give the accurate class rates. She sang a song she knew. Next thing I know, its $100 for them hearing her sing. When I raised the question how the cost for vocal assessment for not hinted before, the receptionist practically started yelling at me in front of my child. I paid and ran from that place. I sincerely hope no one else has endure the experience I had to go through there.

Mr. Ian Garrett is an amazing vocal coach. My experience working with Mr. Garrett throughout theses past few months has and still is a wonderful experience. He has been able to continue to help me improve my vocal control and vocal range. Not only is he a wonderful person to work with professionally he is also a very approachable and understandable man with extensive experience. Even though the lessons may be a bit expensive the lessons are worth it. As a person who has the passion for singing and is considering having a singing carrier on the side I definitely recommend coming to Canadian Academy of Vocal Music. To add on, he's helped me quit cigarettes and due to his passion and drive to work with me I have been able to continue to have the motivation to keep singing and to keep pushing myself.

I've taken my share of vocal lessons from people who call themselves professionals but I never got to work with a true professional who knows their craft until I started taking lessons with Ian. I've learned so much about my singing voice and about the technical aspects of singing in only a few months. The lessons are worth the money and the drive!

My daughter has been under Mr Garret's guidance for a year now. We have seen a significant growth in her confidence as a singer since then. She is always looking forward to her music lessons and does it with a passion. She is just 8 yrs old already a leader in her music class at school and probably the youngest student in CAVM.
