Just a thought but covid and recovery are enemies. The big book doesn't reflect on mental health and in my opinion, mental health or lack thereof is the root causation of alcoholism. Hereditary passing of the alcoholic torch is more than a possibility but regrets, guilt, shame and remorse for past deeds under the influence drive us psychologically to madness and the urge to consume, mostly to forget for a while.Thats why most of us drink the next day...and the day after that.I'm describing myself by the way. The big book, or the alcoholics Bible if you will has a major stake in one's sobriety. Untold numbers of men and women have recovered since the big book's inception but in our closed meetings the scope of conversation should include mental health. Going to a meeting couldn't come any quicker. I was diagnosed with major depression disorder a couple of years ago.I have a nihilistic view if life in general and I just feel like every day is not an opportunity but another 24 hours of feeling like I'm climbing a mountain, it's enough to drive me to drink. I would appreciate conversations with like minded people. Thank Kevin

I was always restless, irritable, and discontent, until the wonderful people of the Toronto Intergroup introduced me to their life changing program. You will find none more accepting and genuine than the people of AA Toronto.

I was ready to end it all. I had hurt every single person in my life and I was afraid to look life in the eye. I drank uncontrollably to ease the anxiety, but it took me even deeper into the dungeons of my mind. AA gave me a path out. People say it is a cult, but those people were never on the verge of death. For me, it was death or AA. It saved me and gave me the opportunity to succeed in all aspects of life and become a helpful person of this world. Sometimes the best way to survive is to stop fighting everybody and everything and let miracles happen. God Bless, the doors are always open.

I should have died from drinking but instead I received a gift of 41 years without a drink.Total surrender was the key to recovery .Live one day at a time was my answer and i prayed not to take the first drink.Keep coming back regardless of how many times you might fail.

It is the most profound spiritual program I have ever encountered in my 35 years of soul searching--and I am not an alcoholic. I go to the meetings because the shares move me to go deeper on my journey and doing the steps (I am on the 4th step) has had a huge effect in my daily living. I recommend EVERYONE should go check it out.
