Muddy's Pit BBQ
Literally, a BBQ shack in da bush. On the north shore of Rice Lake, in a village called Keene, this really neat, out of the way place, make some fantastic KC bbq. :) Very few places like this near the GTA. 1000% worth the drive or motorcycle ride. :)

Very good BBQ with flavourful food served in no-nonsense, rustic surroundings. We went for the recommended sampler for 2 and this was a good sized lunch portion but you may want to compliment it with additional sides or double up on the meat options if you are hungry. The sampler includes brisket, one sausage, pulled pork and 2 ribs so next time I would get additional ribs. We also added beans and they were fantastic. Currently there is no seating available (inside or out) but they normally would have picnic tables outside. On the weekend I would suggest arriving early if going there for lunch (before 11.45) because it can get busy and the ordering process is a bit slower these days. Oh, and their original sauce is great - definitely grab a bottle.

Muddy's Pit BBQ
Great BBQ! Sausage, pulled pork, brisket and ribs. I had the carnivore sampler which was fantastic! It's counter service which was friendly. Plenty of seats at picnic tables inside and out. We also had homemade salads and desserts: all delicious! Not pretentious in any way, just good food sold by the pound, and a nice, relaxed atmosphere.

If you're looking for that smell of a rib fest to get you hungry, this is one of those places. I had the carnivore sampler (sausage pieces, pulled pork, brisket, ribs) and it was as you would expect, good. The environment is relaxing and suited for the experience. It got very busy after we started eating. The price is right , if not a tad high. Dinner for 2 was $50 on our 2 meals. It was adequate. I was put off by the mere mention that they measure all their quantities. That's something that should remain behind the counter. Pulled pork surprisingly was my favorite !

Sheeeeit that's good! We've had southern BBQ in Austin and Nashville and this rates right up there. Friendly staff and an authentic, relaxed barn board atmosphere with plenty of parking and cool swag. Buy some rub! It's a great to take home.

Best bbq in the region, without a doubt. Been going to Muddy's for years and never been disappointed. Their passion for bbq is reflected in the quality of the food. Love all the creative specials. Regular on site entertainment and overall vibe make Muddy's the best place in the Peterborough area for any bbq lover to spend an afternoon eating meat and beans.

Neil and staff are always friendly and the whole vibe is what makes this place special! The music, the smell of the food and the comfort of being in the country. As a local, love this place for a quick lunch, take out for easy dinner or meet up with friends. To boot, Neil is so generous to our community and lots of locals during the season April-December are gainfully employed here.Always worth a stop if visiting or driving through Keene or make a day of supporting local and add Muddy's as a must stop on your road trip!

Muddy's Pit BBQ
Tried this out today and we will be returning soon! The food was amazing (ribs, burger and brisket), the atmosphere was inviting, and bonus..they sell t-shirts, trucker hats, bottles of sauce and bags of rub. The BBQ sauce is worth the drive alone. Gives off Southern feels and I absolutely love it! It was busy in there and there was a bit of a line up, but the line moved along quickly and the staff were amazing at making that happen. No chaos :)
