La Galoche - Shoe repair

I have lived in the neighbourhood for 7 years. Never needed a sole repair for any of my shoes until this weekend when the sole fell off of a handsome pair of boots I love.First thought is, 'Oh great there is the shoe repair place a few blocks away - super convenient'.Took me three days to find a spot in my schedule that coincided with the very limited open hours, but not a problem. Grab my bag, take the effort to walk to my neighbourhood La Galoch 'shoe repair' store.I got beyond the years of dust and dirt on all of the car toys in the window.But the pompous attitude by saying I should go to a 'common street cobblers' and saying what I need 'Is not on my menu' is rudeness beyond belief that is not necessary. I notice all of your low star reviews all say the same thing. Rude attitude leaving people feel put down.I am pretty sure that you have the glue and tools necessary to help solve my problem but you chose not to.If you look at your google keywords on your business listing. it says, shoe repair, sole repair. It doesn't say sole repair except....I am giving 2 starts for the owner being someone friendly and giving me 2 addresses of 'common street cobblers' on the other side of town.Very unfortunate.EDIT: In response to said rude owner. Before I go to a I go to a restaurant I do research if the menu is a fit before I go. I did that due diligence before making the effort to go to your store during your limited window of opening...and when your GOOGLE LISTING has listed 'sole repair'. I make the assumption that is a service you offer. If you only do one specific type of service then list them else you will continue to come across the 'type of people' like me.

Repeat customer… again and again. Fred’s skill is next to none. Stitching on Pair of espadrilles came loose. And the heel needed a new pad. Didnt need to think about who to bring them too. Fantastic job as always!

I went to Fred in a last ditch effort to repair my broken hockey skate from a shot taken off the foot. The material holding the eyelets had ripped approximately 1.5 inches, which made the boot feel soft and non-responsive. There was also a half-inch crack in the composite. Fred said to give him a few days and he could try to patch it back together using his magic. He did an absolutely impeccable job with my skate by gluing a metal bracket in the shape of boot contour, and it feels like it's brand new again! Couldn't recommend his services enough. Thanks a bunch Fred!

I'm so glad I found La Galoche and Fred :) I'm very happy with the wonderful work that Fred did on my shoes and made them look so new. After researching for hours and watching some of Fred's videos on YouTube, I decided to bring my shoes in to get resoled. I almost did not want to wear my favourite Rick Owens sneakers anymore because the sole had worn out quite a lot but Fred fixed that and made the sole the same colour as the original :) Thank you, Fred!

I came here to have sole protectors put on my Louboutin shoes. I looked up places on google and decided to come here after seeing Fred’s work and all of the positive reviews. I don’t live very close but I’m so glad that I came here instead of going to a different shop! My shoes look amazing and Fred was very friendly and informative. The shoes are so much easier to walk in now (not slippery) and the soles look beautiful. Will definitely be back! Thank you so much Fred!

Fred is amazing. If you need your shoes repaired, he is the cobbler to take them to. Fred is knowledgeable, fair and good at what he does. I took three pairs of shoes to him. He resoled two of them and waxed another. The shoes look great and Fred took the time to answer my questions about care and maintenance. I will continue to use Fred for all of my shoe needs in the future.

Recently took my shoes in for repair. I do not have a fancy pair and it is not worth much. The owner was honest about the situation and prices. He did not blindly accept the repair and charge proportional fees. He even took the time to explain the processes, the fees, and even alternatives if I were to choose to go elsewhere.In the end I decided to go through with the repairs and am looking forward to future business with La Galoche.

I brought my $700 hand crafted boots in to be resoled, and the result was gorgeous.The boots are as good as new..so nice that I initially didn't want them to cover the amazing stitch and leather work with a Topy protective cover. So happy I found these guys...the absolute best in the city....true expert craftwork....and worth every penny.
