Tea at The Empress
While this is pricey, if you enjoy afternoon tea, this experience is a must in Victoria. Marlene was a very friendly waitress and helped me with my food restrictions. They had a whole vegan spread for me and the person I was dining with was gluten free and they had a whole gluten free spread for her! They are very allergy friendly. A random note but the napkins were the softest napkins I ever felt. There was a pianist who was wonderful. The china was absolutely beautiful, I would definitely check the gift shop across from the tea if you are interested. Will be back next time I am in Victoria! Note: I would make a reservation

Beyond tea! Tea is amazing and plentiful, was only able to drink half the pot. There were 21 choices of tea. I had the Cochin Masala Chai, so fragrant. The beyond was delicious and filling. The scones were so delicate with velvety butter. The ambiance was appointed with fine decorations and a spectacular view of the harbor.

Overall nice experience, I had the vegan option. It was a bit annyoing to have to wait 15min despite having a reservation, and I felt they were ushering me out about 40min later, removing the tray and bringing the bill. I think for what you get it’s a bit expensive.

Very elegant and beautiful atmosphere. We were there for my friend's birthday and we were treated like Queens. It is worth it. If you are celebrating a special event, the Empress Hotel is the place to go.

The service is great. You get to pick your choice of tea out of their collection. Food was up and down, I enjoyed the sandwiches, but the deserts were not matching my expectations. They look pretty appealing, but lack of moistness, flavour and textures. For a $100+p.p. (Tax tip included)afternoon tea, I would expect more. Recommend for first timers for the location & experience.

This is a meal within a whole experience. We were able to get in without a reservation right after getting off the Clipper ferry. What a great way to start our visit to Victoria! Every bite of food is bursting with flavor and the tea was amazing. I loved how the tea menu shows what each looks like. Our server was so wonderful and we had an amazing time. Absolutely worth the price!

This was a high end experience that is a must try, if you can afford the indulgence. Each person gets to select their own tea for their own teapot. You then get a tray of tea sandwiches, scones and sweets. It is enough to fill you up and you don’t get additional items that we are aware of. Everything was fresh and tasty with many unique and different options. All the items are listed on their menu and you get one of each item listed. The only item you choose is your tea selection.

Amazing experience! The service is amazingly detailed and on point! The tower of snacks were perfectly arranged and well done! The little cuts of sandwich were very scrumptious and would definitely be visiting again next time I'm back in Victoria, B.C.

The service was fantastic and I loved my cocktail empress 75. This is the 3rd afternoon tea I’ve tried in Victoria and I just felt like this one is quite overpriced. Definitely more reasonably priced options with a very similar experience and just as good if not better food !

It’s an institution and an experience. You’ll pay for the privilege, if you’re into the bougie side of things. Supposedly, there’s a dress code for the riffraff, but we saw several folks decked out in athleisure wear, gaudy logos, and beat up kicks. Maybe the dress code is selectively enforced. Regardless - each item is perfectly executed, the service is impeccable and not too stuffy, and the location is top notch.
