Emergency Department @ Cape Breton Regional Hospital

Refused service due to standing up for my rights and freedoms.

Wait times are abysmal. Triage takes minutes. Waiting takes hours. We are here 6 hours now and others have been waiting much longer. Two people have gone in since our wait. 4 have come out. An older couple said they have been here since 8am and have not moved. Its now 5:30 pm. This is insane.Edit- It's now 1am AST. and we're still here. Almont 13 hours.

If you like waiting 12 hours not to see a doctor this place is for you.

Although I had a lengthy wait I received good care. Nurses were very compassionate and helpful. Very busy time with many people sick with the flu. Total time there for me was 5 hours.

Waited for 8 hours straight… didn’t even get to see the doctor.

This is terrible. After reading the comment, I knew I would have to wait forever. But it is even worse than what I thought. Some guy in the waiting room is listening to his cellphone without headphones, and nobody is helping. When you already have a headache, this place is the worst. Minimum 5 hours wait and you have no choice because there's just no doctor in Sydney. It is really shocking for Canada.

I can appreciate the staff being extremely busy and I believe they are doing an excellent job under tough conditions. The only thing I would recommend is to post on a screen in the emergency department a list of the patients waiting to see a doctor in order of priority. I understand this list is a moving target and can change as higher priority patients arrive but at the very least , you the patient can observe the list and decide if you want to stay and waitor leave and make some other arrangements.As it stands now you simply wait blindly hour after hour unaware where you are on the list, missing your medications, meals, sleep etc., all the while, thinking am I anywhere near the top or do still have hours of waiting ahead.
