Perfect spot to lay my head after a devastatingly beautiful drive through the lava beds. I get the impression most people do the Nisga’a tour as a day trip from Terrace, Prince Rupert, or Smithers, which is definitely worth it, but it’s a lot to do in a day, especially if you want to spend time at the museum and visit the hot springs (which you need to book ahead now, but that means you get it all to yourself for an hour!). To really soak it all in I’d recommend making it an overnight. If you go over the bridge past the campground there is a picnic area with a big communal fire ring and a small beach area that would be a good place to swim (assuming it’s safe!), launch a canoe/kayak, or fish (assuming it’s allowed - don’t know what the rules are for non-Nisga’a, make sure you check). Definitely saw fish jumping! There is also a nice little walking path from there that goes along the river a ways, and some branching trails that go through the woods. There are even solar lights along part of it so you could go for a stroll after dark. Saw eagles. The area looks to still be under construction so I’m excited to see what it turns into. The drive down into Gingolx itself is one of the most breathtaking sights I’ve ever seen. Road winds sharply down to sea level with epic views of massive mountains lining the inlet. Town is lovely, locals are super friendly and welcoming. Great seafood. Super strong Rogers cell signal. Best of all - no mosquitoes!

This town is stunning and this campsite is an awesome place to stay! If you haven't seen Ginglox yet you need to. The locals are SO friendly, the food is delicious, and the natural landscape looks like a fairy tale. I can't wait to come back. This campsite has 2 clean outhouses, picnic tables, fire pits, and plenty of space to spread out.

We spent one night here in August 2022. Very quiet. There was only one other camper. No fresh water available but we walked a couple blocks to the fire hall and filled our container. The fireman told us what time he would be back in the morning if we needed more. This is a very friendly town! The sites are under some trees and on the grass next to an open gravel area but they were building some very nice sites in the forest next to the river. While you are there, have dinner at U" Seefood "U" Eat It!"

The beauty is nice but it's a little scary where the camping location is

Gingolx is the most beautiful town on the west coast. This campsite is in a gorgeous location with access to beautiful walking trails through the forest and around the river. 10/10 will be back. If you're thinking of visiting, do it. You won't regret it.
