Aikido Shindokan

I am a student of this place and love it. I searched many places and found Aikido Shindokan was the best out of many. While training the instructors/sensei's are serious but kept it enjoyable. They do not force student's to fake it till you make it". Instead they do their best to help students learn while encouraging to continuously trying. All the students as well are welcoming and help each other out."

Having been at the dojo for over 6 years, I can say that Sensei Chris is a natural teacher, who is able to break down techniques at every level. We are grateful to have two of the top instructors in Canada, Chris Sensei and Paul Sensei. The Shindokan dojo is unique in that sense.

I have been involved in the martial arts for a majority of my life and have seen and experienced many Dojos/clubs. It is a rarity and a pleasure to see a top quality Dojo with legit high level Quality instructors. AIKIDO SHINDOKAN promotes good well being, discovery and knowledge of one's physical self and balance in a non aggressive environment it truly is for all ages. The classes itself has so much positive energy it invites healthy and productive relationships to develop amongst each pupil. From beginner to senior all benefit and learn something. I highly recommend to check out AIKIDO SHINDOKAN.If you find it's not for you, you still would have learned something and also have been in great company.

This is one of the best dojos I have ever trained at, with an absolutely fabulous teacher and a really friendly atmosphere. If you are looking to train in Aikido, this is an excellent choice. Highly recommended.

Absolutely amazing. Sensei Johnston is an incredible instructor, with sharp and beautiful technique, and one of the kindest people you'll ever find. The dojo atmosphere is super friendly and welcomes people from all levels. As if it's not enough, the dojo is also part of a large network of the best Aikido practicioners in the world. Highly recommended.

One of the many joys of Budo is the opportunity to travel and visit dojos worldwide to experience other cultures and feel how they train. The greatest joy has been finding that a dojo 30 minutes from my home has the teacher and training for which I’ve been travelling the World in search of.

If you are looking for an authentic Yoshinkan Aikido dojo, I highly recommend Shindokan. Johnston Sensei has been training for many years with the top teachers in the world and is held in great regard by them. He is also the publisher of many great books including the 3 books he published with Jacques Payet Sensei. His Aikido is traditional, practical and constantly developing and elevating, which in turn allows him to do the same for his students. A traditional but yet friendly dojo. If you in the area it is a must!

As novice martial arts students, my teenage son and I have thoroughly enjoyed practicing and learning Yoshinkan Aikido under the amazing and very experienced Chris sensei. Every class presents new challenges and fellow students are always keen to help us grow and succeed. Highly recommended!

Although I live in Ottawa, the Shindokan dojo is my number one destination for Aikido training whenever I'm in the Toronto area. The instruction is truly world class and the atmosphere is friendly and supportive. I cannot recommend this dojo highly enough!!

Sensei Chris has an effective and unique way of breaking down techniques for newcomers while providing insight and depth for the more experienced students. World class instruction in a relaxed environment. Very highly recommended.
