Recently redid my kitchen and ended up visiting two days in a row to gather everything. Skylar helped me find and pick quality tools for my needs and we discussed knives for a good bit. Having just the right knife makes all the difference and thanks to his patience I am more than satisfied with my purchase.

Was up Island and being the knife nerd I am I knew I needed to stop by house of knives while in town. This store is significantly larger and different than the ones I usually go to in Victoria. Not a bad thing because this store has way more selection. Big shout out to Skylar for allowing me to nerd out over the w.e. and civivi knives with him. Very friendly, ultra crazy knowledgeable and a great rep for your store. A+++ for the store and staff here in Nanaimo. My only negative is that I wish this particular store was closer to my house LOL.

I brought a no. 8 Damascus steel Japanese cooking knife here to be sharpened. The staff was attentive and very pleasant to deal with. Great shopping experience and customer service.

Went in last minute to get some knives I desperately needed and the sales lady was absolutely a delight. She was knowledgeable and patient despite being so close to closing. I didn’t feel rushed at all and was surprised the knives were as sharp as they were for the amazing deal I got. Absolutely coming back for more.

They sell great knives but their sharpening skills are brutal. Our awesome Shun knives were wrecked by them, the knives came back duller and the edge was wavy. We had the knives sharpened in town by a knife sharpener who knows what he's doing and he was able to fix what HOK did. House of Knives probably couldn't figure out how to sharpen a pencil never mind a high end knife. DO NOT LET THESE GUYS SHARPEN YOUR KNIVES.

Made the mistake of taking my spyderco manix in for a sharpen. The knife had a very small nick in the middle of the blade. I had a free sharpen cause I had bought the knife from them so I figured I’d take it in. All it needed was a little touch up and they made the V edge a convex edge, and the tip round. One side of the edges is grinder down further making each side look like different angles. They will never get anymore business from me or anyone I know.
