I read an article in the Toronto Star about Skatescribe. It sounded interesting, so I thought I would give it a try. When Nathan took out my skate blades and put them into his machine, I was shocked to discover that the profile of the two blades were very different - in fact, one blade was over 1/4 higher than the other. It totally explained why I was having so much trouble turning in one direction. Nathan asked a number of questions

Hands down, best skate sharpening system ever. I thought my previous guy was good but the SkateScribe scanner showed how my blade profile got all messed up over the years of hand sharpening. And instead of a grinding stone they use a milling system that carves out a perfect hollow. The techs there are very knowledgeable and can help tweak the blade profile and hollow to match your skating style. Blades seem to hold their sharpness longer too. Never taking my skates anywhere else!

Huge difference!Turns out my blades were pretty uneven and messed up(profile, pitch) after years of manual sharpening. The guys at Skatescribe fixed them up and the difference I felt when I first went back on the ice was huge. I could feel all my edges really easily and felt much more comfortable staying low and on my toes.

I've now tried three different grinds, thanks to the fantastic service and support from Nate, I'm closing on the one that works best for my skill set. Such a unique difference having blade consistency as opposed to the old sharpening by hand method.

Over the years I’ve paid for skate profiling multiple times and honestly never once did I notice any difference. That was not the case this time! When I had Skatescribe profile my sites I truly felt more stable when transitioning and felt quicker, as well! Will definitely be coming back!

Had my sons skates profiled and sharpened, The gentleman that was there was extremely informative explaining each step he showed me the whole setup from start to finish very professional and personable my son tried the new profile out yesterday at his practice and was very pleased thank you for the great service..

Best skate sharpening period. Customized profiles that remain consistent with every sharpening. Blades stay sharper longer with CNC machined precision. Once you find your profile you’ll never go back to regular profiling and sharpening.

I don’t know what to say, Skatescribe has completely changed my perspective of how hockey skates should feel and perform.After purchasing the first new skates I’ve had in 15 years, I proceeded to have them profiled & sharpened the old way (e.g. A local pro shop grinding my blades by hand as best they can using an abrasive wheel) to match the feel of my old blades (5/8” hollow, 10’ radius with a slight pitch forward).I was disappointed, my skates just didn’t feel right!Hearing about Skatescribe through a friend, I proceeded to take my skates to their Markham location and found out why. The laser measurement of my blades revealed that the radius of the blades were different (left from right) and we’re in fact a smaller radius than the factory setting (e.g. 9’ ) I asked for.I was astounded!After a discussion with Nate at Skatescribe, I decided to set my profile as he recommend (5/8” hollow, combo k-cut radius of 10’ & 12‘ and a P2 forward pitch).I couldn’t be happier!

I have never written a review before this since nothing I have ever purchased has ever made such a big impact on me until I tried this new skate sharpening technology. Wow! What a big improvement it made on my turns, speed and acceleration, all while exerting less effort. I felt like I was skating on butter, so smooth! Going to get my son's skates profiled too. Highly recommend it if you want to take your skating to the next level!
