My son joined OBC couple of years ago. Every time we are interact with Coach Tony and his assistant Alana They are acting very mean and rude and unprofessional. They have no respect towards the parents or the children themselves. We have been experiencing a lot of trouble with them. They are unprofessional and their customer service and satisfaction is down the drain, which is unacceptable. They are not worth the money they are asking for my child to train with them. They promised a lot of the kids to join the rep (which is more competitive) and give them high hopes to join however they turn them down.Irresponsible and illegal actions have been taken by them without consulting the parents and we were not given alternative options. They are unprofessional with not knowing how to handle with customers’ concerns.

My children have been participating in a variety of programs for the last 8yrs. They each started in the microballer program. The skills that they were taught and given a chance to develop while in micorballers gave them a great foundation. The coaches are amazing with the kids and very patient. They go the extra mile to make sure the kids are having FUN and are involved in all the skills and drills. My older kids have also done the house league program for several years and every year they ask to register again for the following season. The league is very organized, the games start on time and the officials take their job seriously. The staff is very accommodating to “team”’or special requests due to other commitments my children might have. Every year I see improvement in both the skill levelOf my kids as well as their knowledge of the game. I would recommend this organization to everyone looking for a well run, knowledgeable player oriented basketball club. Well done coach Toney and all his talented well trained staff.

My son played in the house league for less than two years, and we took him out not even half-way through this season because he suffered a concussion during a game. While we know that concussions can happen in many sports, it is the lack of reaction from the referees that made it worse on my 9-year old. He was whacked (intentionally?) on the head by a kid from the opposing team (who was way taller and very aggressive in his defense) and then fell and bumped the other side of his head on the floor. The referee only asked my son if he was OK, and then let him keep on playing. There should be a more serious concussion protocol in place (as per Health Canada and the province's guidelines, among others) so that young kids who bump their heads sit out the rest of the game as a precaution, since they are not mature enough to know that the pain in their head could be a big deal. Coach Toney thinks the way they handled this is good (he told so to my husband on the phone afterwards), we think otherwise. As soon as we got home after the game, my son suffered from a worsening headache and balance problems. We spent many hours in the ER, he had a head CT, was admitted to spend the night under observation, and had symptoms for almost a month. All the doctors who examined my son told us that the concussion was way worse than it could have been because he was allowed to continue playing. Because Oakville Basketball Club will not even consider examining whether their concussion protocol could be improved, we lost confidence and we took our son out of the program. This is because the games are violent, without any referee intervention. Some kids push, hit, shove etc., during the games, and obviously this should not be allowed to happen. Because there is a large age-range in the same league (6-year old boys play with 10-year old ones, even if the range 7-9 yo. is advertised on the website), this is especially worrisome because obviously some kids are way bigger and stronger than others, which makes the violence even more dangerous. Also, the teams are not balanced. They are not composed after skill assessment, they are random except for special requests, and some teams lose by so many points all the time that it is brutal and disheartening for the kids on these teams. There are no coaches provided during the games, parents are asked to volunteer, even if the program costs 400$. And if no parents volunteer, then the teams are without coaches (which was our situation last year). Overall, I would spend my money on a more serious and better-organized program that takes kids' well-being and safety seriously, even if it means going to neighboring towns like Burlington or Milton.

After reading a lot of these reviews, I see that a lot of parents tend to complain simply because their kids can not make it out of House League, while the competition is really high, and the demand is even higher, you have to understand there are only certain amounts of spots on the Rep" team. House League is made for self improvement and experience of playing semi-organized basketball for lower skilled players. OBC has multiple D1

Being a part of the Oakville Basketball Club has been an amazing experience for my son. He started with microballers when he was 4 and has developed skills and discipline and grown to love the game of basketball. He really enjoys the camps in the summer and the off season training. He actually made the 2017/2018 U-10 rep season last year (and he is only 8) we made so many friends and had amazing coaches and a fantastic team manager. We made so many memories and are very grateful for coach Toney and all of his coaching abilities. The staff at Oakville Basketball Club are so helpful and want nothing but the best for the kids. Keep up the great work OBC and we are looking forward to spending many many years with you!

Horrible refereeing. They Do not teach team play. Do not balance teams.Need to focus more on teaching game play an calling the actual rules of the game, so the kids know when a foul is and is not. Seems like the coach/refs just don't want to slow down the clock so they don't call fouls unless its really bad.didn't want to leave Oakville but Signed my kid In Burlington for winter program. We had a Way better experience.

My son has been attending Oakville Basketball Club for the past three years. His skill level has improved greatly and with the help of Oakville Basketball Club he made his school basketball team. Tony and the coaches are approachable and take time to listen to my concerns. I have signed my son up for the spring/summer session. I am happy to see the ratio of coaches to players is higher than any other club my son has been involved in.

My deepest appreciation to the club's head coach Toney, coach Jeremy, club's administrators Alana and Amy, coaches and volunteers for the relentless effort put in everyday running of the club. It taught my son not only skills in the game of basketball, but high spirit of sportsmanship and comradery that is characteristic for Oakville Basketball Club. We've been club members for 7 years now. It truly feels like extended family. Thank you.

We initially hesitated to send our seven years old to this club because of the previous reviews. But our boy had a great time in the summer camp this week! The coach was strict but caring. My son didn't listen to instructions on day one. After two warnings without seeing any change, the coach punished my son to do ten pushups. My son cried but improved his behaviour in subsequent lessons. The coach explained his decision to us after the class in an apologizing tone. We told him that we don't mind at all and were actually happy to see our naughty boy learn his lesson.Perhaps there was a culture clash between the coach and other families? As an immigrant family, we wanted our kids to get used to direct feedbacks and grow tough. So this club's strict approach worked well for us.

My son has been involved with the club for several years and was honoured to be invited to play on the Oakville Venom team for the past 2 years. He has enjoyed his team mates and highly respects Coach Toney who has been a positive influence and a motivating role model for him over the years. He has become so passionate about the game and it is a big part of his everyday life that brings him joy and keeps a positive and healthy focus in all aspects of life. The management team are always happy to help and are hands on, very compassionate and understanding.
