Bennett Land Surveying Mission
5 years ago I bought a house from Bell Mountain Construction in Lake Errock. It was a brand new home with acreage. It was surveyed and the owner of Bell Mountain Construction showed me the property line pins personally before we hired 2 professional fence companies to build our chainlink and ornamental fence to enclose approx 1 acre of our property. We have a small farm with livestock and poultry enclosed in approx 2 acres of our land.5 years later, after the builder showed me and supervised the fence contractors, he hired Bennett Surveyors to survey his property directly beside ours. It is an unusable corner of his property due to easement and road access leaving a small pie shaped section of trees and blackberry bushes. Suddenly, our fence was allegedly located 4 inches onto his property due to the new survey. This will be disputed in Court. The kicker is that Bennett Land Surveyors accessed our fully enclosed piece of land where we have our dwelling and our poultry, without INFORMING us by way of a card or a phone call (the builder could have given it to them), to let us know that they would be attending and we could have let them in. Instead, the builder, Bell Mountain Construction supplied them with a ladder to enter onto our property and access our chicken run and coop that housed approx 60 chickens. The surveyors took NO precautions, wore no PPE to enter a biosecurity area due to the Avian flu outbreak that we were protecting our chickens from. In accessing our chicken run and coop area, we had one hen that was unable to stand due to an injury from strangers coming into the chicken run area. I called Bennett Surveyors when I returned home that day and spoke to the owner. I asked him if his guys had attended our property unannounced and accessed our chicken coop and run area. He said yes. I asked how they got into our yard and he said that Bell Mountain Construction supplied his guys with a ladder to scale over our fence. That hen that had the immediate injury from the stress of strangers entering the chicken run area was euthanized by a vet 9 days after their visit on Fab 15. Since that time, we have now had another 5 hens suddenly die. We have had NO chickens die from when we first got them 4.5 years ago.I advised the owner that the one hen had been hurt during their visit. He said sorry"... I sent him her picture of how she couldn't stand. I asked him why didn't they ask me or advise me that they were planning a visit? I would have let them in and provided PPE for them to wear? He didn't answer......See you in court when the builder takes us there for this property line mix up......"
