Loved everything about this place except for the wait.. But what can you do when you live in a shoe.. Drinks & Dumplings were phenomenal! Excellent Service & Live Music!

Whereislaowai is a Vancouver gem, it’s so precious!! I’ve been coming here for the last couple years and I’m astonished by the service I get every time. The cocktails are out of this world. There’s a story behind every sip from every cocktail you take. The food is chef’s kiss, and the attention to detail with the decor makes this hands down my favourite speakeasy/cocktail lounge in Vancouver!!

I recently visited this speakeasy bar and had an amazing time! The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, with low lighting and comfortable seating. The drinks are expertly crafted, with a wide variety of options to choose from.Overall, I would highly recommend this speakeasy bar to anyone looking for a unique and memorable night out. Whether you're a cocktail connoisseur or just looking for a fun and relaxed atmosphere, this place has something for everyone.

Loved both options of the vegetarian dumplings while waiting for the #7! They were really tasty and I’m usually quite picky with dumplings. The food inside is amazing too. All the staff are super friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable. Definitely a unique experience and I love this place every time.

Been here a couple times. Really like the food and most of the drinks (some are too adventurous for me). It’s really cool layout inside and they have a no phone rule which really allows you to soak in the moment of being in a wonderful space. Sometimes they have live music which is an added bonus.

Service was attentive and quick to help. It really is a cocktail bar and it's not surprising the plates are mostly small servings. The crispy duck requires more seasoning, salt helped.The cocktails were very professional made and served. Very nice flavors.

Had date night here and it was a cute spot. Compared to other newer establishments in the area the price is on par but if you compare it to the older, more established places then it is pricy. The store front is very non-descript so you might miss it and there is only 6 options on the menu unless you order the number 7, then a few more open up. Dumplings are good but you are really there for the drinks with the number 7.

Really cool that we finally have a speakeasy here in Vancouver! I arrived first out of my party and thought it was hilarious how the front server at blnd tgr didn't want to let me into the back that easily. Apparently you have to order something special off the menu ;)Once you do make it inside you'll be shocked at how long and large the interior is. The decor and lighting is dark with a nice ambience. Server super nice. Loved the drink menu concept and how each cocktail was part of a different story.The food is best to be shared (there were four of us) and we ordered several things.I would definitely stay away from the the xiao long bao: the dumplings were extremely tiny and had no soup so I do not recommend!The pork belly was our favorite thing on the menu because it was soft and fatty in all the right places. Covered and cooked in yummy sauce.The drunken chicken was another favorite as well. The meat was soft and poached perfectly.I enjoyed the noodles but my coworkers found it too spicy.The fried fish was delicious but again, on the smaller side.While I was waiting for my friends, I had the bison momo dumplings. They were good but nothing special. I thought that they were covered in way too much spicy topping.Overall, the place is a cool concept and great for drinks and the experience. The food menu could use some tweaking so I wouldn't come here expecting to be full and satisfied.

There were four of us getting the lunch special which pretty much used up all the capacity for 10 mins so if it gets busy expect a little wait but the server was super friendly and advised on the menu well. The bison were nice, especially if you like a little kick in your dipping sauce (I do) the pork were the most traditional, the prawn and oyster were super soft and delicate - quite petit tho if you have a big appetite (also yes). The lamb cumin were a bit odd - not bad but not a flavour I don’t associate with dumplings (which is why I ordered to be fair) they are quite dense too. The lunch deal is good with two servings and a soft drink for $12. I will say, even with two portions I could have eaten one or two more. All in all, good visit, good flavours, good service.

Had a great experience here last weekend, my girlfriend and I went on a date night and were completely blown out of the water by the level of care and hospitality by our server. The food was amazing and cocktails were all a hit. I would recommend this place to absolutely anyone looking to get away from their busy life and enjoy a night to unwind and enjoy quality time with their spouse, friends or family.
