We had a horrific experience at this crossing. They treated my entire family like criminals (including young children). I recommend you avoid this crossing at all costs!

We are directed here by Waze, and it’s really small, only one lane, and their computers are extremely slow. They held us up there for about an hour knowing a snow storm was coming. We were trying to beat it on our drive, but them holding us up with their very slow process caught us in the thick of the snow storm. They searched all of our bags and then fined us $500 for forgetting to declare something when it was obvious we didn’t know it was in our bag. Very petty officers, you are way better off going to the customs along the 89 instead - they won’t search your car and probably are a lot faster as there are multiple lanes. They also forgot to put my bag back into our car when we left, but we turned back to get it after they realized their mistake. Overall, pretty terrible experience, but I am sure it was the highlight of those border patrollers’ days.

Only 1 lane open and cars moving at a snail's pace, leading to a near 2 hour delay after arriving at 9:30 AM on a Saturday.Agent was rude, aggressive and quite frankly, gave off a very racist vibe.Avoid this crossing if you can. It is a shame as the route is quite scenic and the people at the North Hero pit stop were quite nice and I was happy to inject some $ into their local economy.

Used this border about a dozen times during my stay in Swanton, pre-Covid (2013-2019). Never had any issues going into Canada, but the US agents here are... something. Caught one sleeping once, who proceeded to tell me off in a fit of anger. Most of the time, they'll ask (in a supremely annoyed tone) how you knew of this crossing; and, in winters, Google Maps traffic will show the road as closed"

This is fine, a little more pleasant heading into Canada than back home to US, but that's always the case nowadays. On way back, agent asked why we used this crossing instead of one of more major ones, which is kind of silly. We no longer cross on highways since last time we did abt 1.5 years ago, when we sat in traffic for 90 minutes at the station. Highway ones always have the secret one lane much better than others bc it branches into multiple lanes closer to the bldg. We never guess right, and it's frustrating watching cars that were way behind you passing you while you sit and sit and sit. These smaller stations are much more pleasant, ans worth driving out of your way to cross at.

Very small border crossing, officer with bad attitude..not good for commercial, waste of time and getting frustrated by someone uneducated that was disturbed whilesleeping or playon the phone..most of the reviews have exactly same thing to say,

Be careful using GPS! Google Maps sent me to LeDuc road which will illegally cross you into Canada and dump you here where the Border Patrol guys will not be happy with you. Told me if they hadn't stopped me, I'd be photographed along the road and get a $2K fine for illegal crossing. Check your GPS route!

This border is not open 24 hours!! Hours are 8am to 4pm. Otherwise might be nice a quiet way to go.

The worst. The patrol agent was letting us go back to Canada but the Québécois agent was profiling me and my daughter because we don't have the same last name and we don't look alike. He made us get out of the car and wanted to do a thorough investigation if she was really my daughter and if her father was aware she was with me. Totally unnecessary and uncalled for especially as a Canadian citizen, born and raised, to be profiled like that. Never going through this customs ever again.
